I am confused… will probably become clearer at some point in the future.

Joseph

For sure, especially since they said ourobouros guarded the river of time which means there’s a reason for that.

I'm sure there's something odd going on, some sort of trick he's managing to do this by. He does also briefly mention that there are "other hints of intervention, if more subtle". I'm not sure if his previous appearances during Irwyn's Dreams were just interventions in memories, or whether the Dreams are Irwyn actually (mentally) going back in time and re-experiencing the moments, in which case the grey-eyed guy's interventions would be very much changing the past... No way to know until we get more information on how the Dreams and this time magic work. Time magic always gets weird in stories, so there's really any number of ways this could go... this definitely isn't the last we'll see of him, so I suppose we'll get more answers eventually As an aside, I also just realized that Irwyn and the gang recently saw the river of time through that one spell the Principal did, so I suppose that was a little bit of foreshadowing to all this. Maybe they'll eventually interact with that being whose eye they saw in the river?

Joseph

But the visions don’t seem to be changing the past, they are what happened to him. Apart from the Prometheus one that could fit, and I see it as you have to see the past to be able to change it. Since they didn’t mention the future How much of the present do you have to not change before it starts count as the future?it could be one second of nothing changing before it counts.

Him being exposed to the visions influence the actions he decides to make in the present, but grey-eyes says that the past can be altered as long as it doesn't impact the present. Irwyn doesn't understand how grey-eyes is able to change the past, given the requirement that it doesn't change the present, if the exposure to the visions (as a product of grey-eyes changing the past) inherently influences Irwyn's actions in the present

Joseph

How does the visions changing his actions an argument against altering the past? They didn’t say they altered those.

MrWheelsOfMime

Same here. It reads like one of those chapters that will eventually make sense, but there is not enough information right now. At least that's my take as a somewhat inattentive reader.

Joseph

This chapter gave me a headache. Need more time to understand.

I think that one of the two people affecting him will be Prometheus

The plot thickens! We have two(?) parties here, warring over Irwyn for whatever reason. One is, presumably, malicious, and appears to be acting against Irwyn for whatever reason. The other is our grey-eyed friend here, who is an ally (or at least claims he has no ill-intent towards Irwyn). Things are continually funny around this fella. We have "correcting" being changed to "altering", amongst other word changes and trail-offs. Both have similar powers, but grey-eyes seems to be catching up to his foe, and is slowly getting better at fighting against the other party's influence. These powers allow both to slightly change the past. Spooky! I find the blank spaces curious: "I am ____, collecting my due." This one is presumably grey-eyes' name/Name? 4 blanks, so presumably 4 characters, assuming the number is deliberate "the memory imposed upon it by the ________." This blank space is maybe the name of the being/force giving the Dreams to Irwyn? 8 blanks "And they have been playing quite the trick on you ______.” This I am unsure of. 6 blanks Lots of mentions of "tricks", which make me think of the fae, although they're not usually what I'd associate with powers that alter time. With the choice to show Irwyn the Dream of Prometheus, we definitely have some funky stuff going on with Vitaros and the fae in general. They've been quite prominent in the story thus far. Seems a *lot* of things are not what they seem I suppose this is a sign to go back and reread the other chapters Irwyn's mysterious ally appears in
