@hebridesdrifter

Couldn’t agree more. Why is he so insecure? Morgan frequently tells Nathan he’s hot, has a nice appendage(?) and he had a very hot girlfriend while Morgan was gone. Why the shrinking violet business?

Nail

Mostly because I suspect Dan punches hard haha. Also because it hits different when your friend is doing it for you.

Nail

Okay one final rant before I am off for the week, but Jeremy is a bit of an asshole isn't he? Like he's been sizing Nathan up from the start, probably talked Morgan into going to his room full well knowing what the talk of the party was going to be and now rubbing it into Nathan that he isn't good enough for her. Being all smug when Nathan got embarrassed. Hope Dan punches him.

Rich

Ah the young people of today, going to all that trouble to call someone an agricultural tool. We just called a slut a slut in my day and didn't cry about it when her sister slapped us in the face, poured our beer over our head and told the whole bar we had a tiny dick and were shit in bed. 🤣

reuben james

hoe or promiscuous woman, a "304 woman", a slang term meaning a promiscuous woman—when 304 is typed into a hand-held calculator, then turned upside down, the symbols resemble the word "hoe". from google.

reuben james

“That’s my girl,” Jeremy said. And I was inside the room all of a sudden. Morgan was on her back, naked, as Jeremy plowed in bare snatch" Was this revenge fucking if she knew about molly, but I thought

reuben james

right, was this revenge fucking and after all Morgan had her tryst in Europe without telling Nathan.

Kenny Wright

Ah. I see. That was a crazy dream that Nathan had, bred from his paranoia and jealousy

reuben james

I'm wondering about “That’s my girl,” Jeremy said. And I was inside the room all of a sudden. Morgan was on her back, naked, as Jeremy plowed in bare snatch" What am I missing here?

quizkid

Instead of coming at this from an insecurity standpoint, why can't they reveal her "hot past" as a sharing/mental foreplay honest communication? I know there is less initial drama, but you have external characters already that can provide tension without the main character being neurotic.

Nail

That is great news! I have been struggling to see a future with Morgan and Nathan being together. Seeing what was lost can really help that I think.

Kenny Wright

This hits the nail on the head for me. I've focused so much on them being apart that we haven't had a chance to see their chemistry and why they were there in the first place. Like, we don't get to see that Paul/Heather moment in the bar before it all starts. This is why I love posting here first. I have a mind to actually write an entirely new second book, just to cover this ground more.

Nail

Let's agree to disagree, because frankly to me not even Nathan buys into the "awkward invitation". Seriously man the whole Jeremy/Morgan thing is not even remotely comparable, she isn't into Jeremy. Seriously she even laughs off the suggestion meanwhile by all accounts Molly is a genuine ex-girlfriend. Nathan is the villain here.

quizkid

Kenny, I get you wanted to write Nathan as a buffoon (to use your word), but he is soooo far into he insecurity direction it makes the reader wonder what in the world she sees in him, let alone why she seems to enjoy spending time with him. At some level I am glad to see him walk away so she does not have to deal with that anymore. 😀

Kenny Wright

I should probably clarify that then. First, we don’t actually know that she was fucking multiple guys in Europe, although she probably had at least one guy over there. And just to pull back the curtain a tiny bit, she’s definitely NOT fucking anyone but Nathan since they got back together. But it seems like this wasn’t super clear. Which is why I depend on this group to help me out! So thanks.

reuben james

what am i missing here?

reuben james

seems like she is fucking multiple guys while in Europe and now back home every time he turns his back. what kind of a relationship is that, sounds like a 304 to me.

EPS

I also disagree, the way it was written was that they ran into each other and she remembered his birthday, classic awkward invite, which is always innocent. Plus Molly is friends with Morgan’s roommate, also written she would have known everything at this point so as an adult she made a choice to go, if she was really devastated she could have chosen not to go. It seems that the women get a free pass on terrible choices and Nathan is the scape goat for those choices his and theirs! Morgan chose to bring him to a party with a potential lover and then disappeared with him they were with people but we don’t know how they got there or if they were alone or inappropriate. I think everybody is neutral and definitely immature but as I said before Nathan is being painted as a villain to justify Morgan’s future trysts

Rich

Amen to that Chris K. I don't mind admitting that when I was that age I had the emotional intelligence of a tree stump. And reading this just reminds me that if I ever get a time machine my 20 year old self is going to get dragged into an alley for a real talking to. Except I'm 60 now so the callous little bastard would probably out run me. The principle stands though.

Smoke

We have a real dumpster fire going here, with both Nathan and Morgan throwing in fuel. Although Morgan has done a couple of things that require more explanation, Nathan is totally off the rails.

Tracey52

I’m loving this. I didn’t think Nathan would go as far as to break up. While Morgan has been somewhat insensitive to Nathan’s obvious insecurity, what he did to Molly and Morgan at the party was a low act. He is a buffoon, but likely what you would expect. I’m guessing someone told Morgan about Molly while she was away in real time and that’s when she decided to get her slut on. I’m now less sure about Morgan’s relationship with Jeremy. It would seem from her statement that they had sex, but I’m thinking now that it was casual and they friend zoned each other. He’s not the one Nathan needs to worry about. When the lover who changed Morgan turns up, it will be obvious by the chemistry between them. Nathan will definitely have something the worry about then. Having said that, if Nathan starts to think straight he’ll realise that she came back to him. A lot of grovelling to be done.

Nail

Yeah, I can see that can getting them to through the college years. I think you are right.

D375

I love how fleshed out Nathan and Morgan feel as characters. I could picture myself blowing up like Nathan when I was younger and didn't know how to communicate with my partner as well. My guess is that Morgan will get upset and will rebound by having some one night stands with either folks from her study abroad friend group or perhaps Nathan's friend group to rub his face in it a little bit. My guess for Nathan is that he'll try to get back together with Molly and that probably won't work because he seriously embarrassed her at his birthday party. Eventually, Nathan and Morgan will have a come to Jesus moment(s) and get back together. Maybe after Nathan is a voyeur of Morgan and finds out that he's turned on by the situation?

Kenny Wright

Got it. Yes, for sure to all of that. Makes sense now.

Nail

That is interesting! Okay I'll have to think of a new theory or does the break up still work 🤔 😅

Tim ziegler

Sorry Jeremy’s party!

Kenny Wright

And honestly, not a criticism for anyone reading it that way! I just want to understand as that wasn’t my intent. My real intent was to write Nathan as a buffoon. lol

@hebridesdrifter

First, a shout out to Reuben James for expanding my urban slang lexicon. Now that I get it, I’m still not quite in the “Burn The Bitch* camp, but of the opinion that Morgan has some culpability here. She does act differently with Nathan in private than she does in public. And ghosting Nathan to do hash in a select little group at Jeremy’s party was a baffling act, But young people don’t do relationships particularly well. KW has characterized this as an origin story, so I’m assuming Nathan and Morgan are together now, and in a much more mature (even if still fraught) place.

Kenny Wright

I’m just trying to understand. Why is Morgan a whore? They were split up for a year and neither of them were innocent

Kenny Wright

I’m not sure that I follow. Who is Morgan taking to Nathan’s party? Jeremy definitely didn’t go to that.

Kenny Wright

This one is only told from Nathan’s POV. At least the first 5 books of it.

Nail

The blond in 3C had multiple narratives. I wonder if we are switching to Morgan next after this time period.

Nail

Considering the way the narrative has been setup and phrases like "I watched her walk out of my life" and "I did the dumbest thing in my life". I'm beginning to think Nathan and Morgan aren't together in the future are they? Nathan has been immature but also It speaks volumes that it took a month and Nathan going nuclear for Morgan to see what the lesbian couple saw in under a minute.

Tim ziegler

When she asked Nathan why he was there,my question would have been why she was there.I personally think it was pretty shitty for her to take him to Nathan’s party!

glenparks

What the heck is a 304 anyway?

Kenny Wright

This is pretty close to what I wanted to convey here. And Morgan knows that it's low. She's not upset because he may have been with Molly in the past, but that he brought Molly here, using Molly to fuck with Morgan.

Nail

I disagree. From Molly's reaction you can tell that what Nathan did was different, she obviously cared for Nathan and to invite her to the birthday and see him with Morgan was really low. Like whatever the thing is with Morgan and Nathan, hurting Molly was unnecessary.

glenparks

I bet she had several flings while in England as that's the way Kenny's mind works! LOL....

EPS

Wow I’m surprised at the reactions… hypocrisy seems to be the currency of today. Morgan and Nathan are on even ground, why does it feel like he’s being painted as a villain

Kenny Wright

Out of curiosity, what don’t you like about her?

reuben james

walking away sounds like the smartest thing not the dumbest thing from a 304 like Morgan, he deserves better, unless he's a masochist.

Nail

Thanks for the story Kenny! I am honest I wasn't quite sure what to expect from this one, but I am hooked. Did you ever say that they are actually still a couple in the future? Nathan has a lot of growing up to do, and I just don't see that happening while they are still together. Actually scratch that, we will see things unfold haha. Btw I really felt bad for Molly in this chapter. She got caught in a crossfire she didn't deserve to be in.

Nail

@glenparks, yeah Jeremy is an interesting one. I still think he was friends with the guy who hooked up with Morgan in England. He really gave me that "my friend is much better than you" vibe this chapter.

Kenny Wright

This is all such good feedback. I love hearing the theories here.

glenparks

It would serve him right if she did, but I think she would break up first, then hook up with someone else for his lesson. And it may not be Jeremy as we do not know yet what went on in England. She definitely hooked up with someone(s) as her technique has changed/improved.

Nail

If they officialy break up, then yeah definitely see that happening.

@hebridesdrifter

Just to twist the knife a little deeper-the one he plunged into himself- think she’ll hook up with Dan?

glenparks

Man Nathan is a dumbass! But then again, he is only 21.

@hebridesdrifter

A toxic mix of insecurity, jealousy, inadequacy and anger, Nathan just pulled the pin on the grenade. No telling how much damage the shrapnel will cause.

Nail

I had a feeling they were heading towards a break-up and that is how their college years go? Curious to see how they get back together after this. Nathan is obviously a mess, but honestly Morgan also doesn't quite have the maturity to put him at ease. Dan seems like a good friend, hope he can help them out.

Nail

Damn I knew there were going to be hiccups, but man this looks like staring at my younger self at times. I knew Nathan was going to do something stupid. Like he had nothing to worry about with Jeremy, Morgan never gave that vibe, but now? 100% worry about Jeremy. and yeah Morgan knew about Molly. I had a feeling that she did.
