Brad

Still has the burner phone because the FBI kept her cover intact. Specifically for this situation.

Bill F Protagoras

In this episode, I find David's narrative style too idealistic and almost idyllic for what they've been going through.... too shiny and smug... like he's begging for his hubris to end in tragedy. Worst of all it fosters the feeling he deserves some divine retribution for putting his wife and her alter ego on a porn pedestal. What is he? Invulnerable to doubt. Did 'she' also believe she sluiced her slutdom down the shower drain? She was Miss-I-Am-Redeemed-And-Technically-Reclaimed-Goody-Two-Shoes till she got the text from her Bratva Boyfriend, lover & sugar daddy! A great well-written story with a wittold gullibly recounting his openly two faced wife's undercover cheating on him. Immense potential for yet another well-earned triumph for Kenny Wright! They took wedding vows... Amanda as an agent of the renowned FBI would never commit perjury! If she were under oath, on the stand... Not on her dutiful knees... strenuous sucking felonious phallus! Don't worry, Tracey, I bet Kozlov watched, salivating, while the Raven was skilfully stitched in ink into the small of Amanda's back! Then made sure she expressed 'her and his' fulsome gratitude to the tattoo artist! The genes of a male that fucks a female immediately after a rival, or rivals, have more chance of survival! Also, it's a wise child that knows its own father.

Kenny Wright

It’s a good point, and one that I need to reinforce throughout.

Rich

Just occurred to me , David should probably acknowledge at some point that if Amanda was doing this stuff (and she would have done the interview video scene and slept with Nick at least) and was just acting, rather than being into it, it would have been a hell of a lot worse. And if she’d done it and hadn’t been into it, and he’d still been turned on by it…..there’s dark and there’s “actually you need to look at yourself in the mirror and have a conversation buddy.” There's a hint of that in the first reunion scene, when he talks about her being exploited, but I kinda missed the significance. Looking at it like that, I feel different about Amanda going under cover knowing she was going to cheat on David. That’s a pretty hard decision to make if she thought she was just putting on a performance. The betrayal is still there from David’s POV, but what she was planning wasn’t easy fun and games. Don’t know if I could suck the dick of someone I don’t like for a job. Guess that’s were KW’s “badass, whatever it takes” comment comes in.

Maybe Chris. Unclear how soon after the lab raid was the Gold Club raid. So may have been business as usual until then and I would assume Raven was going back to Nick’s place.

Chris K

That's a good point Tracey. If she spent 3 days debriefing, why would she still have the burner phone? Unless they don't know she has it?

Tracey52

Kenny reply raises some serious questions for me, Like how did the FBI not know where Koslov was? Raven was living with him for at least a week after the tracker was placed on Oleg and before the raid. Surely Raven knew where he was and you would think the FBI would coordinate the raid with picking Koslov up, although the narrative tells us the raid on the strip club happened later. Still you would think Raven would have a handle on where he was. Second, the 3 days following the raid to the strip club, where was Amanda? With the FBI debriefing, with Nick, or holed up at her apartment. She also continues to call Koslov, Nick which is very familiar when she is not undercover. Really, suggests an intimacy that continues to linger. I think Julia's warnings are also relevant here, particularly the comment along the lines of "if your life doesn't pan out the way you expect look me up." I found that strange at the time but upon reflection could suggest that Julia is aware of a deeper connection between Raven and Koslov. She also advised that they would keep Raven's cover perhaps suggesting she expected something to go haywire. David for his part does not completed trust Amanda yet, especially when Amanda stated she had not had contact with Nick. I don't really think or want to think that Amanda has been corrupted but Kenny seems to have left that door open. I would hope that David will seek more clarification about where she was and what she is thinking before he blindly follows her. I expect that her going back undercover off the books will lead to more sex with Nick, possibly in front of David. That may be telling about what Amanda's real intentions are for going back and whether she really can't go without Nick's attention.

Chris K

I hope it convinces David too. This story needs....something

Rich

I don't know if Amanda really does have a thing for Nick. But I am betting she'll tell him she loves him at some point, if she hasn't already, and it will be very convincing.

Kevin Goodman

She's taking a huge risk not telling the FBI about the text. If she's wrong, she's in big trouble

Tracey52

Thanks for clearing that up.

Kenny Wright

The FBI doesn’t know where Kozlov is. He’s evaded them somehow, and his text to Amanda is the first contact that he’s made. The FBI doesn’t know about it, and is trying to find him.

Chris K

All the passionate looks David has seen her give him, I think she did fall for him and protect him. And yeah, no fake tattoo can take that abuse.

Rich

Good point about that tattoo. Never really thought about it, but she's had it for three months and it's been exposed to an awful lot of friction and 'ahem' moisture. Can't for the life of me think what would survive that and be temporary. You can get permanent marker off skin after a couple of days.

Tracey52

She stepped closer, pressed up against me, reaching up a hand and touching my face. “But only if you’ll do this with me,” she said quietly. “If you want to walk away, I’ll call this in. I’ll tell them about Kozlov. I’m sure Hirsch would love to bring him in and add another scalp to his belt. We can be David and Amanda again.” I don’t understand what Amanda means when she says “l’ll tell them about Kozlov.” Other than the text, don’t they know everything? Secondly, why haven’t they already brought him in. Makes it sound like Amanda is protecting Koslov. Finally, I still think the tattoo is real.

Andrew Mellein

Amanda must be smoking hot for David to look the other way.

I guess I did not realize that there would be a third book. The finish to book two was quite good although it’s hard to be comfortable with David’s position in reality. I guess he loves Amanda so much that he has convinced himself to do what he needs to do in order to keep her. He clearly gets turned on by some of the softer sex. Book three would seem to have plenty of characters to deal with. Ty worked undercover in vice and narco. Likely has contacts in those worlds, although he has a thing for Amanda, I don’t see him as a bad guy. Julia is still in the picture and has some agenda of her own. I still believe she is running an operation of her own outside or at least on the fringe of FBI sanction. Certainly, the FBI would not be happy with David’s part in their operation. Brandon doesn’t seem involved, but is sleazy enough to be, has drug connections. Probably have not seen the last of him. Nick – still active? Perhaps out on bail. A lot of questions here and since he is Russian can he be connected to Russian Mafia? Some very bad dudes. Enjoy your vacation, I look forward to book three.

It also seems odd for a few reasons that Amanda/Raven wouldn't tell anyone about staying in contact with Nick. First, the burner phone that Amanda/Raven has is probably bugged by the FBI so someone at the agency should know that she's been contacted. Second, there's presumably an internal affairs office at the FBI. If Amanda has concerns about someone's ethics at the agency shouldn't she take that up with them? Third, if Amanda doesn't tell the FBI about the contact then that could potentially lead her to being investigated herself / threaten her job security. All in all a very curious scenario.

D375

That's an interesting point. Amanda might think that Julia is in cahoots with Hirsh or vice-versa and that's why she warned David to stay away from Julia.

A garden-level property is an apartment situated between a basement and first floor, so that someone standing up inside would find their heads at or around street level. This definition is my understanding of what one is.

Andrew Mellein

Kenny was book 3 supposed to be even darker?

Kenny Wright

This group, overthink anything?! No way! hehe

Kenny Wright

Maybe I'm using the wrong term. I always thought of a garden apartment to be one that opens to the outside, but can be multi-leveled (as opposed to an apartment building).

@hebridesdrifter

. . . “our Olympic level overthinking.” Wonderful phrase. And a spot-on description of this group. 😂

Chris K

I said that back in the first book! Lol

Rich

Great end to the 2nd Book. And enough fuel for our Olympic level over thinking. Was Amanda under cover to go after the drug baron or was she really after someone in the FBI all along? If she was worried about the bad guys bugging the apartment it would have come up during her return visits not to mention the conversation she and David just had which thoroughly blew her cover with the mob. She jumped to a very quick conclusion about there being badness to go after from that one message too. Nail chewing time until book 3 then.

Kevin Goodman

Is Amanda's hesitation to notify the FBI due to her distrust of Julia or someone else there? Or does she just want to keep fucking Nick?

@hebridesdrifter

“I thought about how hot it would be to watch you fuck the shit out of her. Put her in her place.” I’m soooo looking forward to this!

@hebridesdrifter

A GREAT and gratifying conclusion to Book 2 and a great tease of Book 3. It’s gonna be an agonizing wait. 😩

Tracey52

Great set up for the next book. I am surprised though that Nick didn’t get picked up in the bust. Not surprised, however, that Nick contacted Raven if he was still free. I think both Julia, certainly, and Amanda, probably knew this would happen. While they covered the drugs, I can’t reconcile them not discussing the unprotected sex. Finally, my guess is Hirsh is a crook. Looking forward to the next book.

Hate to be pedantic, well, ok I do not hate it 😀, but would you not descend into a garden apartment not ascend into it?
