A Favourite Artist
🕑 Added 2018-06-18 19:24:54 +0000 UTC Yesterday I had the great opportunity to attend a workshop in Waterton about my favourite artist Annora Brown. I first learned about Annora a couple of years ago when I was helping make an exhibit of her at the Fort. I soon bought her two books and obsess over her paitings.
Annora was born and raised, and lived most of her life in Fort Macleod and was the daughter of a NWMP officer. It's not just her art that I feel a kinship to, but her life story and her love for the Alberta South-West, and finding beauty in it that others seem to hate (wind haha). I also tend to like her earlier bright colours vs the more earthy works she did in the 60s/70s. But that's just me.
(I wish i could find a better quality image of this painting, it's not really showing the vibrate and clear colours it actually has :/ )
Joyce Sasse has spearheaded www.annorabrown.ca in an effort to preserve and bring awareness to Annora's life and work. I thought I would share a radio play that Joyce and others have put together, and just uploaded last night!

Haha!! I think she would've been pretty flattered at that! Ya I love how you can catch some of the influence Arthur Lismer and J.E.H. MacDonald gave her as teachers.
