I’m replying to myself to help any others because I just figured it out. On your AppleTV go to SETTINGS then AIRPLAY AND HOMEKIT. Change ALLOW ACCESS to SAME NETWORK. That fixed it. Great documentary, but I don’t think the argument for serial killer is quite there. Serial killers are a category of people who prey on civil society, not other gang members. If we take in to mind all of the evidence, and contextualize the killings in gang culture, Von just seems like a more outgoing gangster. Von is clearly a sociopath and a monster, but he was involved in a system that values revenge and hyper masculine behavior. Getting psychological gratification from dead Ops is not unique to King Von. Getting revenge, “get back,” is not unique to Von or his crew. On top of that, social media incentivizes behavior that stands out, so Von continued to play up his killer persona. Rappers brag about body counts constantly. If anything, what separates Von from many others is that he was simply more public and detailed with his body count. The documentary doesn’t really analyze any of this and there feels like a big leap to the serial killer claim, and without the analysis I feel like it makes the claim less meaningful. A more interesting angle to focus on is that social media, and gangster culture, incentivized Vons cruel behavior.

Honestly, this young man played Russian Roulette with his life every single day. He seemed fearless: didn’t fear consequences, prison, man or death; and those are the worst type of people. Having no fear in essence means they feel they have nothing to loose so there’s NOTHING they WON’T do. Him being praised, paid and glorified for what he’s done just continued fueling him. It shows how demonic this world is that we live in and shows how lost the youth is. Although more true than not, it’s sad to say that his demise, was bound to happen and he was living on borrowed time. There were only 2 realistic life options his choices provided him which were: 1) Prison 2) or Death. As cliche as it is, the saying: “You live by the sword; you die by the sword” is true. Under all that violence, hate, anger and vitriol, there was a nice looking young man that actually had talent and could have made a great life for himself; or was there? Was he successful for his talents? Or was he successful from his violence that he put into his music disguising it as “talent”. Guess we’ll never know. Another sad story of our inner city, lost youth, raised by the streets and not a Father.
