🕑 Added 2017-10-13 17:21:02 +0000 UTC Because I don't have any comedy ideas fleshed out, but I do have the ideas for and desire to continue Power Corrupts, I decided to direct my work that way, or I'd be wasting too much time with writer's block (though I will certainly keep thinking about comedy and writing what I can). So, I've been doing a lot of designing, drawing, and rendering for that animation.What you see in this tentative image is Jeffery landing at the outskirts of the city completely controlled by Yahweh. Jeffery has to find a way to infiltrate the city, accomplish his mission, and escape. The only problem: Yahweh is virtually omniscient there.
The idea behind this animation deals with the depravity of ideas like hell. I may add something about how evolution could've facilitated such ideas (our striatum, a major component of our brain's reward system, becomes active when we punish others, which may have aided our survival during times of scarcity). There is a theme of congruity between the hell Yahweh created in his universe and the hell he created in ours. The idea is to humanize the concept, show how the concept of hell matches perfectly with how our brains work, that we're dissatisfied with a universe where wrongdoings can go unpunished, and how we've corrected for this discomfort through the anthropomorphism of the universe (karma, reincarnation, hell). And that, no, such beliefs aren't necessary for peace and stability. I don't really get into hell's use as a recruiting tool, but that is a valid point as well; perhaps that does deserve some attention.
