Progress Report Week 7
🕑 Added 2025-02-16 14:09:06 +0000 UTCFirst, as mentioned before.
This is going to be a rather long post.
I will talk about the results of the poll that I made in January and discuss the plan going forward.
But first...
Sweet Affection 0.11.1
Let's talk about this month's update for Sweet Affection.
I finished all work on the planned content for Sarah and Shannon.
And I should be done with all the art for Hazel her planned content, this Tuesday.
After which my focus will shift towards writing those events.
My goal is to be done with all of that by Sunday, giving us plenty of time to code and test everything.
It is definitely not going to be an early release.
Right now I am aiming to release the 0.11.1 build for Tier 3+ on February 28th, 23:59 GMT at the latest.
As mentioned last week, I won't be able to finish the diary pages for Hazel.
Those will be included in her next development update.
But for the rest, everything is going according to plan and no issues. :)
Poll Results and the future.
I am going to divide this part into 7 sections.
Starting with.
1. Poll Results.
In January I asked you guys if you would be okay with me starting development on a second project.
With as consequence that I would spend about 25% less time on Sweet Affection every month and use that time on the second project.
Combining the results from Patreon and Subscribestar.
- 88% voted that they are okay with that.
- 11% voted that they are not okay with that.
First I want to thank everyone that voted.
Having your perspective on this matter really helped.
And as I've been saying since I started Naughty Attic Gaming.
We are in this together so your opinion matters to me.
Thank you.
2. Decision.
I had to spend a couple weeks thinking about all of this.
Yes, the majority voted that they are okay with me starting a second project.
But I don't want to ignore the other 10%
I value what all of you want as well.
However, as I explained a couple times in the past couple of weeks.
Starting a second project, it is 100% necessary for me to keep going as a developer.
To grow as a team.
Because quite frankly, I am worried that if I don't start a second project I might not be able to develop Sweet Affection for much longer in this full-time capacity.
We all know that things have become very expensive in the world the past couple of years.
I need a second project to hopefully grow again as a creator.
3. What will this mean?
Meaning, I have decided that I am officially going to start development of a second game.
It will be developed in the same capacity as Sweet Affection.
It will be part of my monthly plans and goals and I will treat it as part-time job next to my full-time job for Sweet Affection.
Every week I want to spend at least 1 full day and 1 half a day on the new project.
4. What kind of project.
That has been the most difficult decision.
Something I've been struggling with for months now, ever since I wanted to start development on a second game.
I have plenty of ideas and plans, all fully worked out.
But, what would be best for me as a developer?
Create something similar to Sweet Affection?
Create something polar opposite to it?
Do I make this project for myself and all my current fans, or do I work on something that attracts new fans.
It's been a decision that I thought about for countless hours and talked about so many times with my team.
I have ended up with the decision that I'm going to try and make something similar to Sweet Affection.
However, I want to make it much lighter and faster-paced.
I love Sweet Affection but I think it would be best to create something a bit more "Direct."
The main theme will still be love and romance, but I want to sprinkle it with a little bit more lust.
5. What kind of time frame?
First thing I want to make clear right away is that this game will not have monthly updates like Sweet Affection.
(That will be one of the goals if I'm able to hire more people in the future.)
This project will simply follow the idea of "It's done when it's done."
Of course I will provide everyone with updates and when I'm close to a release I will mention that ahead of time.
I am aiming to have a demo ready late spring/early summer.
And a full first version late summer.
The project will be made with Honey Select 2.
Something that I practiced with a lot the past year and feel confident enough with to start working.
Why not Daz 3D?
I simply do not have the time nor the financial room for that.
My goal is to create a big Daz 3D project once I am done with Sweet Affection (Private Community Remake.)
6. What this means for Sweet Affection.
Like I said above, it means that I will spend 25% less time on Sweet Affecting, starting March.
However, I want to make 1 thing very clear.
Something that came up a couple times in the past couple of weeks.
People are afraid that this is a sign that I will stop developing Sweet Affection or that I no longer enjoy it.
Which I completely understand, there have been many examples of this happening.
But I still love developing Sweet Affection and if it was completely up to me I would develop it for another 25 years.
I would follow all the characters for many, many more years and introduce more and more characters.
There are so many other characters that I wanted to introduce into the story but couldn't.
I am never going to stop working on Sweet Affection, not until it's finished.
A second project is simply necessary for me to keep doing that full-time.
That doesn't mean that the second project will be rushed or done with any less passion.
No, I will put 100% of myself into that as well.
But, Sweet Affection will be my top priority.
There are still going to be monthly updates, that is not going to change.
7. When can we expect more information?
My goal is to introduce all the main characters to everyone in March.
After that, gradually I want to show everyone the locations.
As well as previews from the events as I start working on it.
And, I think that is about everything I had to say.
Hopefully I didn't forget to talk about anything, if I did then I will adres that in the coming weeks. :)
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please let me know and I will do my best to answer it a.s.a.p
Starting a second project is a very big thing and I admit that it does make me a little bit scared.
Hoping that people will love the new project as much as Sweet Affection, or even more.
But, I am going to do it and it is going to happen!
I want to thank everyone for supporting me.
And hopefully all of you find this news positive. :)
For now, I am going to end this post and get back to work.
I will be back this Wednesday with another preview and next weekend with another progress report and hopefully the change-log for the 0.11.1 update.
