Progress Report Week 2
🕑 Added 2024-01-14 13:13:04 +0000 UTCAs mentioned, this progress report will be fairly long.
So, strap in boys and girls. :)
Sweet Affection Update 0.10.3
First, let's talk about the most important thing.
The progress on the upcoming Sweet Affection Update.
I finished work on all the art for the planned events earlier this week.
And I am currently working on writing all of these events.
Everything is going pretty smoothly and I expect to be done with all of the work for the 0.10.3 update somewhere between the 20th and 22nd.
Giving us enough time to code and properly test the new content.
An early release is very likely and I'm aiming to release the 0.10.3 build for Tier 3+ on January 30th.
Bugs
Lately, I've been hearing more about bugs popping up.
I think that has to do with patching the game continuously.
For one person, one event might not play out as it should and for the other person, the music might not work properly.
We are currently trying to find a solution for that and have started to test every inch of the game.
As you can imagine, that takes a little bit of time.
In the meantime, if you run into any issues after patching the game.
I advise downloading a full build. :)
Unnamed Project / Project X
Now, let's talk a little bit about the second project I've been working on.
A project that I haven't named yet but will address as Project X for the time being.
I received a lot of questions regarding this project and I wanted to take the time to answer all of them.
Q&A
- How many characters will there be in the game?
The game will only contain two characters.
A young man who just turned 18 and an older woman who is in her mid-30s.
- Will this game be as big as Sweet Affection?
No, definitely not.
This game will serve as a new creative outlet for me to tell a different story.
It will follow two characters and the majority of the game will take place in 1 location.
It will be developed in VN (Visual Novelle) style.
- Will there be different mechanics than in Sweet Affection?
There are going to be some mechanics that you are already used to, like the diary pages.
But also some newer ones, like interactive animations.
I'll be able to provide more information about this in the coming months.
- How long will this project be? (In terms of the amount of content.)
It will be substantially shorter than Sweet Affection.
But still long enough to tell the entire story that I want to tell.
- Is it going to be as slow burning as Sweet Affection.
I want Project X to be a little bit more fast-paced.
However, I enjoy creating slower-burning stories and taking my time to show that through content.
So, it will be faster-paced than Sweet Affection, but most likely slower paced than the average adult game.
- How frequently will you update it?
Initially, I'm not going to have a release schedule for Project X.
Sweet Affection will stay my top priority and I will only work on Project X when I'm confident I can finish the planned work for that.
However, if/when Project X becomes successful and we draw in more support.
Then my goal is to hire someone to help me with the art or writing.
So, the more support we have, the more frequently I'll be able to release updates.
- When can we expect the first release?
I'm aiming to release a 0.1 version somewhere in March or April.
However, this will be a relatively short demo only containing the intro.
- What is your goal for Project X?
Ultimately, I hope that Project X can give us the boost that we desperately need as a creator.
To bring in more financial support and I'll be able to hire more people to bring even more content to you guys.
But on a personal level, my goal is simply to enjoy creating a new game and enjoy telling a new story.
I love working on Sweet Affection, I think everyone knows that.
But after 4 years working non-stop on it, it's nice to work on something else every once in a while.
During this project, my aim is also to learn more about Honey Select 2 and to create more and better art as I keep working with it.
I know that the first couple of updates might contain a flaw here and there, but as long as I keep on improving along the way, then that's fine. :)
- This will be an 18+ game, right?
Yes, it will definitely be an 18+-themed game. ;)
- What kind of other themes will there be in Project X?
In terms of themes, you can expect the same things as in the Sweet Affection main story.
- I am Tier 3, or a different tier, what does this mean for me?
I haven't really thought about a release schedule yet.
The demo will be available for everyone at the start.
After that, I will likely follow a similar release schedule as with Sweet Affection.
First Tier 3+, and then shortly after that the other tiers.
But more information about that once we get there.
- Is Project X going to contain as much dialogue as Sweet Affection?
Definitely not.
I love writing and I love taking my time to really set up a scene.
But, I learned along the way that I sometimes overdo it a little bit with Sweet Affection.
As mentioned above, I will still take my time with the scenes and there will likely be more writing in Project X than in other Adult games.
However, I will make sure it's less than in Sweet Affection.
Now, I am going to finish this post with two images of the new game.
I would love to hear your opinion about them, so please let me know below in the comments.
This is all still a work in progress, and I'm aiming to release better quality during the release.
But this is a general idea of what you can expect and to give you a first glance at the two main characters of this game. :)
I'll be back with another preview for the 0.10.3 update, Wednesday and a progress report, next weekend.
Thank you to everyone who is supporting us and send me questions.
If I missed your question, please let me know below. :)
And I'll see you soon! :)
