The most obvious insect to use for Chrysalis's design would be a praying mantis, but in the case of what I actually ended up basing her design off of, it's a blend of mantis, cockroach, and phorid fly. She has a few different 'forms' depending on how fed she is, and for this illustration I decided to draw her at her most typical: not engorged on love, but not completely starved of it, either.

Lmao It was much less noticeable on the sketch, but I think that has to do with the sketch being kinda reversed colors, so her eyes are really dark, and not as shaded, so they look flatter and not nearly as much like a Preying Mantis’s bulging eyes, well, bug eyes.

Putting a bag over her head will solve that problem as long as you don't mind the chittering noises

Ahhh, the return of the 'Why Boner'...

the bugwife Definitely interested in her other forms and how you see her different shapes working out. And I seriously love poor Shining's face.

So which feeling is the roach and fly form?

Is her starved form an abomination unlike this completely doable babe?

Damn, never been this early before. Literally can’t make a “last time I was this early” because there IS no “last time.” Still kinda cute, but the eyes definitely put her in the uncanny valley for me.
