A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)
Extremely affectionate, but quietly so if you’re in public. He’ll caress your hand or lower back, lean close to whisper things to you, nuzzle against your neck – all quick moments but full of love. In private, he will touch and kiss you a lot. Forehead, cheek, mouth, wrist – any exposed skin is fair game to him if you’re willing
B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?)
Silas' previous best friend is dead, and he doesn’t intend to find a new one. He looks for someone fun, willing to do things on the fly and drag him along for the ride. Someone who smiles and jokes a lot. Someone who can tell his moods even when he is trying to hide them. Someone willing to help him with his plants even though they suck at it/listen to his academic tangents even if they don’t understand a word of it.
C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?)
Silas enjoys cuddling. He prefers to be the cuddler, not the cuddlee, but he is willing to do whatever his partner is more comfortable with. His favorite pose is draped across a bed or couch with his lover between his legs, leaning back on his chest. He can nuzzle and kiss their neck at will, which is ideal.
D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?)
In Silas’ ideal world, he would be part of the stereotypical American Dream. A house, a partner, his 9-5 academic career, and a few close friends. He would love sleeping in on weekends and mowing the lawn. Helping his partner cook and going grocery shopping with them.
E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
It would take a lot for Silas to break up with his partner. If he loved them enough to start a romantic entanglement, he’d try everything he could to keep it. If it weren’t possible, he’d handle it logically. Sit his partner down in a calm and quiet setting, lay out his decision and the reasons why, and stay for any questions or anger. Then he’d leave.
F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quickly would they want to get married?)
He doesn’t see himself ever loving anyone until he decides what to do about Deerbourne. If you catch his eye, however, that falls apart. He would be relatively quick to consider a deeper relationship – not that he’d say anything immediately. He’d do some harmless flirting first. Then a little more. Eventually, if you pick up what he puts down, he’ll make an offhanded comment about how you’re possibly the perfect person for him. Then leave the ball in your court.
G = Gentle (How gentle are they physically and emotionally?)
He is very gentle physically, though he sometimes has problems with emotional gentleness. He’s very pragmatic and speaks from the mind rather than the heart. He quickly realizes his error if he upsets someone, though, and will apologize and try to make amends.
H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?)
Silas isn’t a big fan of physical affection unless he’s in a relationship with someone. Platonic affection always made him feel strange, even with his family and friends. He prefers to have his own autonomy over his space. That changes if he has a partner, though. He loves wrapping his arms around his partner and having them hug him in return.
I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?)
He prepares himself for his downfall when he knows he’s in love with someone. It will come out sooner than he knows it should, but he can’t control it. He loves them, and he can’t just hide that.
J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?)
Silas’ jealousy is a cold feeling in the back of his throat. He’s felt academic jealousy so often that praise for others in his field comes with a metallic taste on the back of his throat.
Romantic jealousy is a burning sensation behind his eyes. He is quick to tamp down on those emotions, though. He firmly trusts his partner until they give him an explicit reason not to.
K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they want to be kissed?)
He loves kissing you on your neck and the fragile skin behind your ear. He loves to kiss your mouth, of course, and your collarbone. Your spine. Your hip bones. His mouth is made to praise you, and he does so in any way he can.
L = Little ones (How are they around children?)
Silas has never had much interaction with children, but he has a fondness for their weird little antics. If he had children/his partner had children, he would dote on them. They would be his world (only second to his partner).
M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?)
He likes to lounge in bed with a book and coffee if there's nothing to do. If his partner is with him, he’ll snuggle with them and probably try to initiate something more intimate if they’re willing. Then he’d either want breakfast or more sleepy snuggles.
If there’s something to do, he is efficient – he wakes up early, takes a shower, shaves, dresses slowly and deliberately, and goes about the day.
N = Night (How are nights spent with them?)
Most nights are spent alone with a book and soft music. He prefers oldies (he’d die on the hill called The Beatles) and sad love songs.
If he has a partner over, it is spent however the mood takes them. Maybe it’s still reading and music. Maybe it’s a movie marathon. Maybe it’s sex all night. He’ll do anything they want.
O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
This depends on who Silas is getting to know. He always makes light of himself and his situation matter-of-fact, dryly. If he is pressed for information, he adjusts his tone to be a little more open but less willing to divulge quickly. If the other person makes light of things and is dry about it (or shares a similar history), he is much more likely to spill the beans immediately.
This, of course, is harder to do with you because of Deerbourne. He wishes he’d met you in California when he could be himself.
P = Patience (How easily angered are they?)
Silas can quickly get frustrated, but that usually comes out in dry sarcasm. He doesn’t get mad often, but it comes out quiet and controlled when he does.
Unless it’s with Deerly. Then, his rage can become an inferno.
Q = Quizzes (How much do they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or forget everything?)
Silas remembers a lot when he’s interested in a person, but his memories focus on the non-verbal. How you fidget or hold a pen. If you bite your inner cheek when you think. All of the different smiles you give and to who.
R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
TBD for you guys to discover :)
S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?)
Silas will protect you to the death. Unless you’re Deerly.
Silas would never want to be protected. He is a coward in one very important way, and because of that, he doesn’t think anyone should try to save him from whatever comes his way.
T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
When it comes to romance and the family he and his partner form… So. Much. Effort. He thinks through every step of every occasion. He is the chef, the baker, the event planner, and the coordinator.
Everyday tasks? Eh. If it’s important, he focuses and does it. If it’s work for Deerly, he half-asses it at best.
U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?)
He chews the skin around his nails, tears off his cuticles, and picks at wounds/scabs. According to Hunter, this is all self-harm. According to Silas’ sarcasm, it builds character.
V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?)
Silas is a little vain. He makes sure to use an imported face wash and moisturizer to keep his skin soft. His wears product in his hair to keep the waves tight and manageable. The only thing he doesn’t take proper care of is his hands (see above about his nails).
W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?)
If you two became close (friends or romantic partners) and then something happened to you… he’d be devastated. It’d be like losing Xavier all over again - but worse because he could have saved you.
X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.)
Silas plays very minor tricks on people. Nothing mean or major – moving a pen to the opposite side of the desk, tilting photos a smidge so they’re slightly crooked, etc. These little rebellions make him feel like he has some control in Deerbourne.
So far, only Vardah has noticed each time he does it in her presence. The others rarely do.
Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)
He cannot stand when adults eat with their mouths open/talk while they chew. He hates when people demean or belittle others, especially against those in lower positions of power (coughDeerlycough)
Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?)
He loves sleep, and he loves dozing in bed/in a window seat with his partner. He was born with Pharaoh’s Favorite Mistress energy – lounge and read and have casual academic debates with loved ones and friends.
Even so, his sleep is sporadic. He usually sleeps in increments of 4 hours three times a day. He knows this isn’t healthy, but he can’t control when his body and mind want to be active.
