Ghostwalk Gown
🕑 Added 2024-10-03 15:00:09 +0000 UTCGreetings adventurers!
The ethereal plane is something I try not to get involved with as I always fear ending up stuck there in the gray and twisting wastes of ghosts and wraiths, but when this little number ended up on my doorstep, I will admit I was intrigued. The previous owner shared with me that it had once been a wedding gown long ago, but through unknown means she thought it had become haunted. Giving it a once over, I could see it was teeming with potential through a bit of refinement. Well a few cuts and enchantments later and it’s safe to say I think I’ve managed to unleash its true potential.
Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

Design notes from Matthew:
I often have mentioned that I approach 5E and PF2E writing as two separate exercises and that’s a very deliberate thing. There’s just a fundamental difference in how the two systems tackle everything from action economy to movement, and even fundamentals like how the math adds up and the relative power level of magic items in each system. If you’re trying to just straight translate ideas, you’re going to end up with worse items for whichever system that you’re translating to. It’s kind of like taking idioms from one language and directly translating them to another where the context is missing.
For the 5E version of this, legendary items are expected to be powerful in their mechanics for both what they can do as well as the defenses they provide. It made sense to bring in some condition and damage type resistances and immunities as you expect a legendary item to pack that kind of punch. Additionally, I wanted this piece to have some movement abilities, thus the chain teleportation. I intentionally went with an unlimited expiration on these as I wanted the potential there for long term hunting if needs be.
In the PF2E version, the ability to step into the ethereal plane is much more restricted and I saw the opportunity to instead give this item the ability to cast ethereal jaunt, giving it the ethereal and movement properties I was looking for. Additionally I gave the chains a wholly different purpose here, serving to provide some defenses without making them extremely overpower compared to other items at this level. What we end up with is two very different pieces that both match the flavor.
Welcome to spooky month friends and I’m happy to report that we’ll be bringing you spooky themed items all month. It’s going to be exciting to delve back into the realm of haunts and ghouls and I’m happy to always report that we’ve got some extra content coming this month in the way of collabs. What I’m saying is that it’s a great month to be a patron here!
We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.

No problem at all. Its the darndest thing too, all the files being named the same, windows didn't bat an eye at downloading them, (or im blind and they aren't the same) but it didnt number them or anything; i have a handy little program i use to mass-name files with how many patreons i'm on, so i can keep track of who's responsible for any given particular awesome thing lol, but i added extensions to them and they work just fine. Never in all my pc support or programming years seen that behavior from a web upload or even a zip. lol

Fascinating. Thanks for the heads up Dan. I'll take a look at that. I appreciate you pointing it out.

weirdly, when i try to use the download for $6 tier, the pop-up (i use download all most of the time) just says " 7501 Empty folders cannot be zipped" -- the one newer than this worked fine (i'm catching up on emails...) i was able to download the files manually and change extensions, though. Figured i'd bring attention to it, but i don't need anything done with it i got it figured out.
