Tales from Icewind Dale - Session 3
🕑 Added 2021-10-24 19:35:31 +0000 UTCSession 3: 5th of Hammer - 6th of Hammer, 1490 DR
(this session was full of technical issues, so whoops D:)
When we last left our heroes, they had slain the wicked murderer Sephek Kaltro in the Lucky Liar Tavern, and managed to get themselves banned for life. With their main goal accomplished, the party moved on to assist the people of Lonelywood with their vicious moose problem. Taking time to recover from their wounds, and figuring that the creature would be least active at night, followed moose tracks into the dark forest. During their waiting time, Preach attuned herself to the strange crystal, documenting its powers for later use...
The party's luck seemed to hold, as within two hours, they found the moose's tracks. Strangely however, they seemed to lead in a circle. Tyriel came to an epiphany before long, recognizing an ancient elven myth that matched this sort of enchantment.
"Only those who are humble may approach a place of power."
Ta'Lua, remembering a tradition from his homeland, got down on all fours and crawled, head down, along the tracks. He vanished into the mists, and arrived in front of an elven tomb. Everyone, save the prideful Preach, followed suit. Recognizing the magic as nature magic, the summoner utilized their own corrupted druidism to force a hole into the mists and sent their Badger summon to demolish one of the magical statues that held the barrier in place.
Ta'Lua, angered by this, was about to draw blades with the Kobold, until a strange voice entered his mind. It claimed to be Zeroviel, a spirit of the tomb. The spirit calmed Ta'Lua's anger, and the party proceeded. Moving through, they discovered a druidic moondial, and a burrow where the moose made its nest. Through their arguing, the moose was roused, and charged the party. Luckily, the moose was not prepared to meet opposition within its home, and was swiftly slain before it could bring harm to our heroes. Preach captured the moose's spirit much in the same way she did the Grell from Termalaine, freeing the wolf she had captured before the adventures beginning.
Moving deeper into the tomb, they discovered Ravesin, a frost druid camping in the tomb and awaking animals to cause hassle for the people of the Tentowns. Ta'Lua wasted no time, throwing a trident as Rose tossed a firebolt. She refused to go down that easily, however, and turned into a hulking Polar Werebear!
The party fought valiantly, breaching the Werebear's thick hide with well placed spells and blades, when it called upon its icy goddess' blessing and blasted Tyriel with a moonbeam spell, causing him to lose consciousness and revert to a strange form...
The creature before them took precedence, however, and with a concentrated blast of Eldritch power from Tyriel and a cannon-like chromatic orb from Rose, the druid was laid low.
When torches were again lit, Tyriel was back to normal and denied everything, while Preach slipped a quick draught from a flask that hadn't been seen before, noticed only by the Town Wizard.
