I totally agree. It seems like a meh episode, but it's so important to the rest of the series. I never skip it on my rewatches.

Being able to watch you watch this made my F day. This seems like just an OK episode but it'll grow on you -- Originally i felt like you about this episode but I never skip it when I rewatch the series.

It was almost like watching this episode for the first time again for me. I normally love ANY episode with Master Bra'tac in it - he is that mentor of Teal'c that you referred to. But apart from him and Jack's humour, I find this episode extremely tedious on re-watching. Some episodes I have watched many times, but this is one of those stories that is good to watch once for the background information, but imagine sitting down to watch it again. Then for a 3rd time. You almost lose the will to live. I like it when "spirituality" is done well in sci-fi, as it was in several Babylon 5 episodes, but some of the sayings here are meaningless gibberish. There are some deep concepts out there that can be meditated upon, but they are not here. It was nice to see Amos's friend Prax "The Plant Guy" from The Expanse here. :-) Even with him, Bra'tac, Jack's sense of humour and Daniels boots, I do not think that I will ever watch this one again in this lifetime. Three times has been enough for me.
