A superb episode and a great reaction. It gave the actors a chance to really ACT with each other on a personal relationship level. It was also very funny in places. The life and times of Colonel Maybourne continue to unfold before us. In the past he has been an obstacle and an ally. As you said, here he is not "evil" but he is one of those people who think in the shorter term. They think that the "softly softly" approach is taking far too long to defend Earth. I did read that the main cast said they liked the actor so much, and that he was so much fun to work with, that this was why they kept having him back. They said that he was a very funny man, and so nice and gentle in real life.
