I think it more represents that Fred realizes that all mana is the same and he shatters the cores that bind him and is a core of Mana that can be used for any type.

You can't do this to me before getting to the end of the book. Now I think that Fred is going to shatter under the pressure and I can't even speed read to find out. Kind of kidding, but seriously if that cover were given to Fred in a vision I would tell him to get his affairs in order. It is a neat variation on the the cover theme you have going for this series and it has my interest.
