10.000 SPM completed base (savefile) & new stream announcement!
🕑 Added 2025-01-10 22:10:53 +0000 UTCHello everyone! For those interested, the link below is the savefile of the completed 10.000 SPM playthrough, with 25 hours of steady science production on the clock.
You will need to download Factorio 1.1.109 to view the base (of course I didn't update to the final version with the hotfix to fix the productivity exploit :lol:, of course version 1.1.110 will do as well if you have it already, or hey, just open it in 2.0 for fun and see everything break ;)

These older versions of the game are standalone versions which won't interfere with your current factorio 2.0/space age install, just unzip the older version into a folder, open its factorio.exe (it's in the /bin/x64 folder), start a new game and immediately make a save (this creates the "saves" folder), then put the 10kSPM savefile into the saves folder. When opening the save, syncing with mods is optional but I recommend it (it's all just visual stuff and extra stats).
I will make an edited video (series?) of the entire playthrough (after I finish up the Space age NPE video, which has priority).

With the 10k SPM base completed, I will start a new Space Age stream tomorrow! (starting around 14:00 CET)
The challenge: 1000x Science Cost multiplier... While getting the "Keeping your hands clean" achievement (Destroy your FIRST enemy spawner using ARTILLERY!)... on Default settings. Yes, that means the usual "1x science cost" ore patches, normal "1x science cost" biter evolution speed, and of course, biter expansion ON. Also, we're on a strict vegan diet... NO fish! And Base Defense? Pff, that's for the weak... NOT allowed!
It will be played on completely default settings (this means default ores, default biter evolution speed, biter expansion on, etc.)
Full rules:
- Pure Default settings, except 1000x science multiplier
- Must not destroy any enemy spawners until aqcuiring Artillery (to get the "Keeping your hands clean" achievement). Worms and moving enemies may be killed at will.
- (most importantly that means that the usual Weapons of Mass Cheese-struction (flamethrowers and/or OP offensive landmines) are not usable.
Additional challenges:
- NO base defense (I can still react to attacks myself after they happen)
- NO fish healing potions (but "vegan" DOES allow me the Gleban superfood IF we ever make it there)
If my calculations are correct, we will reach Big Biters during the Red Science era, and Behemoth Biters after a couple early green science techs (this is unavoidable due to the evolution-pushing 1000x pollution cost of science pack production)
After an ungodly amount of very doing weird tests and experiments, I've learned a bunch of new stuff and busted some stuff I thought I knew (and which everyone "knows"), and I've got a WHOLE bunch of new biter manipulation tricks up my sleeve (as well as some old ones). Will we make it off the planet? Well, I've got sort-of-a-plan (but no one punched me in the face yet, so we'll see how it goes...)

Are you saying that the next series on here will be another "edited stream", rather than in the style of say, the 100% evolution run, which was 100% curated?

I might be overreaching here... Before starting, I thought a mere 15 hours of not playing factorio while playing factorio would be enough to get started... but after re-evaluating and revisiting the strategy after new stuff learned, it seems not!

I used to post stream links here, but as I didn't want to ping everyone multiple times per week I moved stream announcements to discord (in general, I try to stream friday and sunday). After warptorio Space age came out, so I spent 6 weeks or so doing/streaming the NPE while learning all the new mechanics, so I could come up with a good challenge run idea (for instance, something akin to the Ultimate DeathWorld Challenge wouldn't work well for space age, as you can just blue-science-rush off to vulcanus and win). The challenge of the current stream is what I came up with for the next series, combining an older idea with one of the new already-hard-to-obtain achievements in Space Age. The opening stage is incredibly extremely grindy, so the first episode will encompass the first 35-40 hours or so of gameplay Then it will also become clear if my plan is viable. Currently 15-ish hours in on-stream, I will try to stream shorter sessions modtly-daily next week to get through the grindyness in a more bite-sized, non-exhausting way). So it seems likely the opening episode will come to patreon in 3 weeks or so. (it's not gonna be a cut up stream though, I'm writing a voice-over script as we go along (after every stream), and will seperately record good clips for the edit as usual). So yeah, TLDR, space age dropped and spent 5-6 weeks learning doing the NPE (is also in process of becoming a stand-alone video).
