Definitely check out the shield for another crime/cop show. Nothing compares to the wire but nothing ever will. I don’t think they could make a show like this again if they wanted to. At the time HBO was the only game in town and they were riding high with Sopranos, Deadwood, and Rome…wire didn’t get really popular until season 3 or 4…today there’s too much competition, would have been canceled Also check out the Corner which is the miniseries that inspired the wire Also Carnivale. I’ll never not recommend that show. Lesser known from the golden era of HBO but in terms of things that would never be made again. It is right up there. Fantastic show in production, plot, and all filmmaking aspects

It's not that Omar saw he was going to be killed. He saw Kenard walk into the store and turned back around because he didnt' consider children a threat. He didn't realize Kenard was a little crazy. In the shot where he dies, we hear the bell ring and Omar turns his head, sees someone walk in, and turns back to the cashier to ask for his cigarettes. He saw the kid but didn't peep the danger.

I think James has played the Grand Theft Auto games, so he might be interested to know that The Shield was inspired by the Rampart LAPD scandal, which also inspired Officer Tenpenny and the CRASH unit in San Andreas.
