It says "I have been sitting here waiting for you many a hundred years". Never thought to look it up before, but it seems like it's from the 1915 reissue of Charles Kingsley's The Water-Babies, illustrated by W. Heath Robinson. Thanks for encouraging me down this little rabbit-hole!

Couldn't read what that print says. But it looks a whole lot like Waterhouse's painting of Miranda and The Tempest. Is that caption a reference to the Tempest?
