Default Werewolf Skin Overrides
🕑 Added 2024-08-31 14:41:45 +0000 UTCThis is an override for the official werewolf skin textures, intended to improve a number of bad texture seams on the werewolf body.
For anyone who isn't familiar, texture seams are where two edges of a flat 2D texture meet on a 3D mesh. Imagine wrapping a piece of paper around a ball - the place where the edges of the paper touch is a seam. On a good texture, you can't tell where the seam is; on a bad texture, it's obvious. (For me, texture seams are some of the most annoying elements to deal with in creating 3D content, so there's no judgment of Maxis in this post. I know my seams aren't always perfect!)
The previews show before-and-after seam comparisons. I can't show every fix (e.g. seams on the lower leg, foot, or top of the head) because those areas are harder to capture in CAS.
TWO VERY IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THESE OVERRIDES:
1) There's a bad seam at the back of the neck that I can't fix. The reason is the head and neck textures are different sizes. On a human sim, you don't really notice this, but on werewolves the problem is obvious: the neck textures are being stretched more than the head textures, and become blurry as a result. I can't fix this issue with texture overrides, unfortunately.
2) Female werewolves still have some bad seams. Female werewolves are using a mix of female and male textures. Remember my ball-paper analogy? Imagine the male and female bodies are two differently sized balls being wrapped in the same piece of paper. The male texture fits the male body well, but there are some very obvious seams when the male texture is applied to the female body.
I've fixed what I can for female werewolves, including the ears/hands/legs. Unfortunately, there are still some bad seams between neck and shoulders that I can't fix. If I can find a way to correct this issue, I will.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
To use the overrides, add the package to your /Mods installation directory. You can remove them at any time and your werewolves will revert to the official Maxis skin textures.

It would take a while. but it may be possible for modders to Seperate a Sim's Head and Body Textures, (So that Like The Sims 2, they are Seperate. and can be constructed to Minimise, or even Remove Seams entirely. it Is possible), one could Re-Wrap a sim's Head and Body Textures. I won't pretend it will be easy. even with my knowledge of The Elder Scrolls modding...it hard. lol

Thank you, I'm glad you think they help! Yes, they really shot themselves in the foot with the texture size issue, but, we make the best we can with what there is. :)

Mostly it's the problem EA themselves Created by Not giving Heads and Bodies their own Textures, which causes the vicious neck seams, if a Head Texture is 2K, the body MUST be 4K, and even The Sims 2 had seperate textures, but your efforts help Greatly to offset this visual issue (Which for some can be Very distracting)
