Actually if you watch the movie episode 2 of the anime becomes pretty unnecessary, it doesn't really add anything the movie doesn't have besides a heavily cut down version of Kirito's perspective on the events. Episode 2 of the anime is what happened when the anime cut down the Aria of a Starless Night to 20 minutes.

i recommend watching sao once you start youll wanna keep watching it. you can watch ep 1 of the anime and before ep 2 you can also watch the sao progressive movie aria of a starless night. the movie takes place in basically in what you see in ep1 but from another main characters perspective. (i gave the movie a 10/10 it was so good) then after the movie you can watch ep 2 of the anime
