Thats a strawman argument, and not what I said. I do use woke like (but not as) a perjorative, but I do not believe compassion is performative. Rather, I believe being performative is not compassionate. Meaningful compassion comes from actions, not words. The new testament harps on about this more eloquently than I can. The extreme ends of both woke and antiwoke are equally bad, as all extremes are, but ive noticed that the extreme woke gets labelled as balanced while balanced gets labelled as extreme antiwoke. Edit: I am oversimplifying somewhat. The internet and comment sections, by the nature of their limitations, are not conducive to nuanced discussion.

I thought it was implied that the first human king was a Thresholder that left really strong armaments to his successors which might have had some consequences.

Congrats on 100 chapters of world hopping!! 🎉🎉

While performative compassion does exist, the argument of the types who use “woke” as a pejorative is that all compassion is performative

Calling out Woke for having a dark side, even with the deniability of a fantasy world and a flawed protagonist, takes balls. Having opinions is great, but self righteousness is a very dangerous trap. One of the reasons I like this story is that its descriptive rather than proscriptive, and concerns itself more with asking the right questions than claiming to have the answers.

Happy 100 chapters! :D I'm enjoying Thresholder very much, thank you for your work.

Agreed, but there's some less good things in the mix as well which makes him compelling

I do wonder if Perry could have learned more from the play if he had approached it with an open mind, rather than condemning it for perceived similarities to issues from his own world (issue he, perhaps, should also have paid more attention to). Very good writing! I feel frustrated with Perry, but I very much enjoy reading his POV. TFTC!

Perry is a Good guy at the core, he is one of the helpers in times of crisis

Lots of little nuanced details in this chapter that I loved, thanks for the chapter! Perry reflecting on the themes of the play directly after the city was attacked was some good stuff. I'm a big fan of his POV as a protagonist, he's not always the most likeable guy but he's interesting to read about

Why are humans the most socially acceptable to blame in the play? Previous kings and tyrants have been of all races, have the human kingdoms been specially oppresive in the past or are they maybe the weakest race?
