How I Really Felt About Online Dating
🕑 Added 2019-07-07 02:30:30 +0000 UTC
I have previously shared a comic about my online dating experience in a more humorous light, but today I wanted to share a story about how everything didn’t initially feel perfect.
I was actually disgusted by myself the first time I tried online dating and felt ashamed for doing it. I was at a stage in my life where I wanted to start progressing in my romantic life but was limited by the amount of people I could meet in real life. Like everyone else, I would have preferred to just meet someone at school or just run into them at a cafe.
However, after I met my boyfriend, I’m now like...”Why did that even matter?” I would rather have a relationship with someone who genuinely cares about me, shares dreams/goals with me, and most importantly—respects me. If the cost of that is to just meet online, fanfckingtastic.
I sometimes think about an alternate universe where I met someone in real life in the most romantic way possible, but the relationship itself is shitty. Of course every relationship varies and is not the same. But at the end of the day, if I get to be with someone who makes me happy, then the way we met doesn’t even matter.
Also disclaimer I ain’t promoting anyone to do online dating if you’re uncomfortable with it, just sharing my own experience
