Reminds me of the guy who jumped of the Golden Gate Bridge and survived and said “I realized while falling that the only problem in my life that couldn’t be fixed was the fact I had jumped”. this totally removed any opportunity to treat the mental illness that would lead someone to this fate. So sad she didn’t try to get support from anyone that would have helped her. She needed help and did not deserve to have her life ended this way.

Interesting - was just thinking of the similarities between the two cases. Obviously, there are differences right off the bat due to legal processes in two different countries. Although, the consent issue was arguably easier to present in the Meiwes case with the existence of so much video indicating the willingness of both parties at multiples stages of their interaction. Overall, quite a multifaceted and complicated case - thanks to dreading for covering.

tbh it's irrelevant whether you can consent to murder or not. It's just that you don't want someone who is capable of premeditated murder (for no reason other than their sexual pleasure) to be part of your society. See R v Brown in UK case law. and there's the issue of verifying consent too - as we know, rape is rape even if a person changes their mind halfway through the act. same would apply here, except if someone rescinds their consent to be killed, we will never know that because obviously the consenting person is dead and can't clarify their position.

The only way you can consent to murder is by committing suicide (which technically is a self-murder in the eyes of common law). So this poor lady wasn't of sound mind and whoever killed her ...

Was she in her right mind? I am not sure she was. This is very complicated. I think he should be jailed for ending someone’s life whether they wanted it or not. It’s a very simplistic view l know but take the emotion out of it he murdered her. The other point i have is, i watched a doco on underage children watching porn and how it affects their mind. It was disturbing to say the least. Some hardcore pedos watched porn when they were 10. I just thought it might be what made her who she was. 🤷🏻♀️ Thankyou for another great story. There was another lady did the same thing and was eventually murdered in the desert.
