Goldberg’s record since returning is currently 4-4, so assuming he loses to Lashley at SummerSlam, he’ll have lost more than he’s won since his return. Given that his entire allure is based around being virtually unbeatable, does the prospect of him having more losses than wins mean they might actually want him to beat Lashley to keep that going, or do they absolutely not care about that at all?

Goldberg’s two Universal title reigns both lasted about a month. The thought of a Goldberg not only winning the title but holding it for 3+ months is awful, but honestly your scenario occurred to me too, and while I definitely don’t think it’s likely, I also wouldn’t put it past them.
