Maybe this is my own misunderstanding, maybe I'm just being That Guy, but in really stuck on the whole key stone barrier thing. Suvi went through all the trouble of breaking the passkey into six pieces for herself and her retaining companions, and then Ame, Eursulon, and the Fox roll up on a ROC. I was like "oh shit oh shit, this whole mountain is going to descend on them, if not for the bird then for crossing the barrier without a passkey. But it didn't come up? Maybe it will next episode? It felt like such a pivotal misstep tactically but they had time to talk to Old Wallowroot and get the horses up to the safer passage. Granted, a whole ass sorcerer showed up, but seemingly just to deal with the roc. Did I miss something or am I jumping the gun on story beats?

Magic kinda solves all problems especially in a nation that uses magic as the backbone of its development. Like if you're using magic to make ready made weapons, magic rings to be better at lifting boxes, you better be using magic to increase the yeilds of your crops. And the gates would definitely be under heavy security. Also the rations could go in a pouch of infinite holding and the point of rations is to sit around until needed. I've had rations that were 2 years old and rations that were a month old, tasted the same.

I don't think Sully was necessarily a goner, but I think it was a reasonable call given what Aabria said: "I know what I would expect someone to do if it were me." I don't think that was a moment of self-interest, that was a moment of Suvi following the soldier's code she's been trained to follow.

I love so much the way Brennan's voice takes on the tone and personality of a character's perspective when he's gesturing towards their internal monologue, and it's always especially apparent with Suvi and the wizards.

Even if you can teleport your supplies, you have to actually have the supplies first. My guess would be that the agriculture and manufacturing and such are the hard parts of supplying the troops. Plus I can imagine opening a teleportation portal directly to where all of the enemies are could pose some security concerns lol it is a good point though. As for the bag of infinite holding, I think it's probably useful to let people carry a lot without physical encumberance, but it seems like an inefficient use of resources to let a month's worth of rations sit and wait in some guy's pack if he's in a position to just get more when he runs out, ya know? Also lol this is a much sillier point but thinking back to Tefmet struggling to get their stuff into their bag of holding, I'm now just imagining a soldier sitting in a room with a month's worth of food and a normal-sized bag and having to just shovel in one handful at a time until it's all in there.

Suvi risking everything (even other people who can't say no to her commands) for someone she loves and who just told her he loves her makes so much sense. The loss of her parents and her grief plays so well into her inability to leave any chance of him being savable--last time she could only sit around and be hidden, now she has agency and power to fight like hell to get to him. Spirits with more names are also considered more powerful. According to wizards. I interpreted the in-game reason it asked for a name as two-fold, one to gain another name and thus more power, and also to prevent giving a name to be commanded by. Out of game, obviously the more they care for Fifi the more they feel the loss.

What kind of soft/economic influence does the empire have with the other 2 factions? Surely the Empire must have access to magic that they can offer that would give them political/economic influence? Also wouldn't teleportation magic eliminate most supply line issues during war, it would also allow for rapid deployment of troops to hotspots pretty quickly. Somthing that would deter most enemies. Also what about a bag of infinite holding? Every soldier could carry a small pack that holds months worth of rations?

I saw it less about the Empire being made up of non-wizards and more to do with the fact that the Empire interferes with the workings and aims of the Citadel to get the wizards to do stuff that the Empire wants. Like, the Empire has pushed for the Citadel to be a military arm of the Empire--not necessarily that the Citadel wanted that from the jump. So maybe wizards feel some type of way about that.

Last episode showed that Sworn is really not a good person. They may be nice to Suvi but they clearly referred to Rasper (who is also not good himself) as an “Imperial rat” in front of the azure battalion, who are soldiers of the Empire the Citadel SERVES. The biggest offender of this though is back in Arc 1 when they were freeing Naram and Eursalon had to do a certain amount of damage but could only reach it with smite, which he unlocked. The mechanical challenge was cut from the episode for little gain.

This episode had a few that I found disorienting, the creature that attacks Suvi through her shield at the start doesn’t get a damage roll stated, and the nat 20 inflict wounds right after hit two targets, which I would imagine was an extra boon because of the nat 20 but it isn’t discussed in the episode.
