For Eursolon I have in mind something like an Oath of Alignment/Clarity/Unity. Where we see his breath and quest fully intertwined to realize his power. I'm thinking spells like 'Sanctuary' always being prepped. Or even 'Primal Savagery' to really lean into his breathe as a Wild One.

I like the idea of Oath of the Hero; it sounds classic and really makes the knight part shine. Oath of Freedom (as yimyams has said) is also beautiful, it reflects so much of eursulon's journey so far and what he truly believes in. Also an oath of freedom really resonates with remove curse, misty step, and having the strength to break what holds you back and protect those around you. Dimension Door would also feel good, to yoink someone from danger if need be.

Theirs three main systems for stats with tons of variants. But the ones to know are point buying, point assigning, and 4d6 drop the lowest. Brennan does a variant where stats are 5d6 drop the two lowest, also for health you can choose to take the average but where is the fun in that.

I don't get leveling for hitpoints and stats. I never played D&D myself, only ever watched/listened to it and this series was the first time I witnessed these mechanics. I always assumed it would be like in Baldur's Gate 3 where you simply have a set pool of points that you distribute the way you want and your class allows.

I need to introduce yall to the concept of the Box Game. This is something we do in the campaigns my friends and I run. When rolling hit dice, each player can, if they don't like their result, they can take what's in the box. If they take the box, the DM rolls another hit dice and the player MUST take the second result. There is also the IMPROVED Box Game, designed to tempt players who roll the average. In the improved version, the DM rolls a dice one face higher. So if a Wizard rolls a D6, the DM uses a digital app to roll a D7. To make it just a bit more tempting. We love it. When the Box rolls high, it's great! When it rolls low, its hilarious! And then every once in a while a player rolls a 2 and the box rolls a 1, and we tell that story the whole campaign.

Maybe it's just all the other comparisons to Ghibli, but something about Eursulon's position in the story feels very Ashitaka in Princess Mononoke. Walking the line between two worlds that conflict with each other, yet participating in both and loving aspects of both. Seeing with eyes unclouded by hate, evaluating all the information, and choosing for himself when to intervene on the behalf of one side or the other. I love this beefy bear so so much 💖

For some reason, "Oath of the Way-Shadowed" is standing out to me for Eursulon. I've seen people talk about how much he cares about freeing spirits or freedom in general, and while I do think those things are true, I do also believe that these things are true for the MOMENT. Eursulon's current path leads him to freeing whatever spirits may be imprisoned and of course he cares about his own personal agency and autonomy, but he is also seeking "honor" and figuring out what that word means to him and his purpose in the life he now has. That's where the idea of "Oath of the Way-Shadowed" comes in. Eursulon is a man of two worlds, a spirit that unknowingly anchored himself to the material world only to find things and people from that world to stay and fight for. But at the same time, he has not forgotten his roots and would call any spirit he encountered kin and break bread with them if given the chance. This Oath would encompass that dichotomy. It's an oath that wouldn't call on a paladin to enforce or embody a specific ideal because it's not a path that anyone has walked before. Eursulon would be the trailblazer for others to follow behind. Oath of the Way-Shadowed would be a paladin oath that encourages others to find purpose for themselves, to be kind to both mortal and spirit, protect that which they cherish and mete out justice to those who dare chain you down.

I think Lou / Eursulon should think about an Oath of Liberty which also encompasses a kind of political anarchist ethos. Like, Eursulon has had multiple opportunities to just become a part of a larger thing - he could have stayed a spirit with his father, could have joined The Stranger, could have joined the Antivalist and instead he chooses his own path. He also cares *so much* about the emancipation of his spirit brethren, so the idea of freeing others should be part of it. And then the nature of quest fever to me, at least, feels like the moral fever of anarchism as I feel it - that suddenly something is so clearly necessary to do you choose to do it in that moment. So yeah, an Oath of Liberty: personal freedom to not necessarily be part of a larger structure, a desire to free those in captivity, and a moral urge to act when presented with either injustice or something of clear important to Eursulon as an individual.

Chef is REALLY good! If the powers that be are listening, there's a homebrew Chef feat that Erika might be interested in. It's on DND beyond and it gives some lateral expansion to the feat, were the food you prepare can have different effects.
