🕑 Added 2025-01-19 17:07:05 +0000 UTC(Edit - apparently tiktok is back for USA so my sappy paragraph was for nothing HAHA but here it is still) This day was marked by the USA ban of tiktok and I'm very sad about it haha :,D Tiktok was what initially got my content out there, it's really the first place I ever felt free to express my love for this story, and my audience is predominantly American, so it's a really awful feeling. Instagram is thankfully where most of the content is, but I don't believe we'd be here without tiktok, and I truly hope they find a way to get it back up there. I miss my overseas tiktok boos sm, I hope some of y'all traveled over here and on other platforms </3
In other news, it's Rick's birthday today (or January 19th, for all of you who'll see this next week haha), so why not post one of my favorite paintings of him! <3 This is what inspired the later Kostrov Traces illustrations and I'm still soso fond of it!
Rick hated his birthday, mostly because he didn't know what to do with positive attention and because he tended to remember how much he's lost over the years on this day especially, so not many people even know when his birthday even is haha. His family had to snatch his ID to find out and everything 'cause he kept refusing to tell them T.T
Personal fun fact but his birthday is just an inverted version of mine (I was nine when I gave it to him so cut me some slack AHHAHA). It was done mostly 'cause that was the easiest way to remember it, just like Jake's birthday is like November 16th and both FJ and Mags have birthdays in march - I forget dates, this was the only way I can manage LMAO
But the most tragic thing is that, years down the line, I found out January 19th was considered the most depressing day worldwide :,) Like what hahha and now I feel bad for accidentally making him stuck with that symbolic travesty T.T
AND now we had tiktok banned on this day too like DANG broo whyy ahhaha

Ahaha i thought so too but apparently it was a government stunt, which is kind of almost worse in my opinion :,) but definitely, I'm glad everyone is back! Ahahahah but soo real bro i really think those two would benefit from a fellow equally introverted person to make them feel less alone ❤️

Oh yeahhh a few people have told me they deleted tiktok either by accident or on purpose and now they just can't get to it anymore :( it's such a stupid stunt on behalf of the government, like something happened behind the scenes that they're not telling us and it's a really dystopian situation all in all I'm sooo so happy to have you here as well! Patreon especially, free members and paid members included, is probably the safest platform I have where we really don't rely on algorithms and can just exist in peace, so I'm super glad you're here ❤️ Hehe and thank you sooo much!! ❤️🥰

Hahaha the ban lasted the full 12 hours so everyone is now back. It was really an unecessary state of chaos for the sake of a stunt 😭 but right?? Tiktok is the same way for a buunch of us with the collections for art and stuff too, plus for a bunch of americans, it was literally how they paid the bills. Breaks my heart how comfortable goverments are taking all that away HAHAH MAN I LOVE NARCISSUS FOR THAT 😭😭😭 oh my god that's sooo adorable, poor Lolanthe having to do like a full on investigation to figure this out lmao 🫂🥹💔 Narcissus and Rick should start a support club lmao, the poor grumpy guys 😩❤️🩹 BUT LITERALLY AHHAHa i didn't know about the January 19th for years either so that was a depressing find when I did figure it out like hHaha even when I'm not intentionally making him sad for the plot, the unintentional symbolism still wants him to be sad 😩 AND THANK YOU SOO SO MUCH!! 🥹🫂❤️ i'm so glad you like it ahhh, this is for sure one of my favorite pieces hair-wise too haha so it means the world!

I haven’t really been keeping up with the whole TikTok situation since I never used it, but I feel terrible for everyone who’s affected by the ban 😔 I’ve got a whole saved reels section on Instagram for art tips, inspirations, references etc. and I couldn’t even fathom how much it would mess me up and throw off my art process if I no longer had my little stash 💔 The fact that Rick’s family had to snatch his ID to find out when his birthday was is so funny to me though, because Narcissus is the exact same way about his birthday HAHA 😭 Iolanthe was so curious she went through all the newspaper archives at the local library to find out the date of his birthday lmao 😭😭 I just learned something new though cause I didn’t know January 19 was the most depressing day of the year either until now!! That just makes Rick’s whole character so much more sad ughh 😔 Rick got a horrible lot in life, the poor guy was already doomed from day 1 AHAHAAHAA I gotta point out just how absolutely beautiful Rick’s hair looks here omg 🥹💖 The pose and the lighting couldn’t be more perfect either!!
