I'm still on episode 2, but I figured I'd comment in case this helps (I've never played this). I'd say keep in mind chess pieces and rooms you found them in. Chess pieces on a board are associated with letters at the start and as you play. Could be a message. Maybe you're well past that or it isn't helpful!
