As a trans dud I think the trans rep is really good, the language seemed fine at the time so I understand it's not malicious

The representation is actually pretty solid and well-meaning in most cases, but this was made when a lot of the slurs were commonplace, so it comes from that being the language used at the time. This show is so interesting because, despite these outdated views, the show is still beloved by a lot of the queer anime community, as far as I can tell.
