Regarding the “The Pumpkin King title never comes up again” thing: I feel like it both does and doesn’t. I haven’t read any supplemental material throughout the years but I always thought it was pretty clear that Jack is the “ruler” of Halloweentown, the literal King. That’s part of why the Mayor says “Im only an elected official, I can’t make decisions by myself!”, he needs to go over the plans with the King, which is why Jack just up and leaving stressed the Mayor out so much. He’s not just a random dude that everyone likes, he’s actually their leader.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is my favorite movie ever (if you can't already tell by my pfp), and it is 100% without a doubt a Halloween movie in my eyes, but I understand how people see it as both. For me, a holiday movie is one that you watch to get you in the spirit of the holiday, and this movie is just so Halloween. There's no way that I could watch it and say "ah yes, Christmas!" just because the movie is based around Christmas, but that's just my personal opinion.

I was so scared of this movie as a little kid lol, didn't watch the full movie until I was 12 bc it scared me so bad as a kid I started crying. Also, Penelope is SO CUTE (love her name btw, is it an Epic/Odyssey reference?) and October 28th is National Pitbull Awareness day so you're actually on time for two holidays/events. a stop-motion horror movie?? well, assuming you have not already seen it: i would say you are looking for "The House" (2022), it was released on Netflix. it is 90ish minutes, but it also is stop-motion aimed for adults interested in the horror genre (at least, so it's wikipedia says, i remember Netflix saying it is Rated 14+, aka TV-MA, but i remember going "jfc, this should be higher than 14+, what the hell"). it is basically "Monster House" × "Coraline", except almost everyone is an anthromorphic animal and also the plot has 3 timelines happenings, so we see this house attempt to destroy 3 different families (or family-like units) and it is way more unnerving than either of the films i aforementioned. really good stuff also, i did go "is there any more im forgetting?" and googled "horror stop-motion movie" and there is apparently a horror movie literally called "StopMotion". so. that took up almost all of my search results lol anyway, great video as always, Danny!! loved it! 💗💕

Cannot agree - Corpse Bride takes a very tragic Jewish story (that was based in very real antisemitic violence and pogroms) and erases all the Jewish context from it and not only that but goes on to Christianize it. 1. Infinity Train isn't a musical! 😉 2. Sally is actually VERY young. In the novelization it says that the beginning of the movie is her first Halloween. She's like a few months old, though I don't think that makes her a child. She just hasn't figured everything out yet. 3. I get why you didn't show it, but when Sally jumps from her tower and then just sews her leg back on is so clever to me! She was born a ragdoll and she figured out how to make that a power move! 4. It's true Jack and Sally don't interact much in the movie. I think she's been admiring him from afar and he generally knows about her as Dr. Finkelstein's creation. I think Jack figured out Sally was into him when she sent him that, ah, meal? Bottled butterfly smoke? And he was clearly impressed, so maybe they had a flirty situation going before he got distracted with Making Christmas. Then they just kinda speed-ran into fairy tale logic and were "meant to be" by the end. 5. Making Christmas is a great song, you dummy! 😝 6. Personally I've always held that this is a Thanksgiving movie, halfway between Halloween and Christmas. Also, Jack's voice is actually two different people. His singing voice is Danny Elfman, his speaking voice is Chris Sarandon, who played Prince Humperdinck in The Princess Bride

While it's not exactly a horror movie, "Kubo and the Two Strings" is a stop motion movie that has some scary scenes I think you'd like. It's a fantasy placed in an old mythical Japanese setting. The stop motion animation is gorgeous, as much as any stop motion I've seen. I recommend it highly.

Even though the TOWN is Halloween town and Halloween themed, the timing of the movie is the lead up to christmas and all the major plot beats center around Christmas

I think one of my favorite things about the movies sound track is that on the vinyl there is an epilogue in where Santa cluse is reminiscing about these events and goes to visit jack and finds he and Sally have kids of their own now and he asks jack if knowing all he does now if he had the chance to do it over again would he? And jack responds by smiling leaning close and whispering "wouldn't you?"

disclaimer I'm not a trainer, but in my experience exposing any kind of puppy to semi loud noises that aren't angry at them seems to help with confidence. Extended family has farm dogs that won't bat an eye at people/thing being loud, until those loud noises are anger/panic/pain. Granted it might also teach her to be a yapper, but hey like father, like daughter lol.

What I love about Danny Elfman’s music for this was that this was his first time ever making a music soundtrack for a film and I believe the only help he got was from his guitarist who had experience with classical instruments also I always thought Oogy’s antagonist rep was from he’s the only guy who doesn’t believe in Spooky he’s legitimately scary not just spooky like the rest of the town in other words he takes things too far the rest of the town believes in fun scary Oogy believes in mean scary
