Don't worry about not catching all the names, places, or terms. The Lord of the Rings universe is VAST with detailed history that goes back millennia before the sun and moon were created.

Good movie and for me the standout performance was Andy Serkis as Gollum. Sadly, the Oscars are not given to actors in motion capture roles but he did receive awards elsewhere for his amazing performance.
