Jan 2022, p1/3: 3D pony modelling
🕑 Added 2022-01-31 18:33:20 +0000 UTCHere’s something I’ve been working on besides the regular animations. For those out of the loop, a low-quality 3D model of Pipp was leaked through an Instagram filter.
I started experimenting if I could make something usable out of it. It’s taking shape quite slowly, since I’ve never 3D modelled anything but some simple stuff for 3D printing, and I had never even touched Maya before January XP. I’ve watched tens of hours of tutorials to get this far, but still it has been surprisingly easy, so I’m optimistic.
I've been fixing and patching the model up as well as I could, changed the proportions closer to Izzy’s, and modeled and textured some other parts of it. I’m not entirely sure how I’ll proceed from here. Her face isn’t how I would imagine my ponies to be in 3D, but I’m afraid to change it much right now. I would probably only make it uncanny (since I don’t have much experience…). I think I’m going to at least modify the body to have a bit more butt.
Currently, I’m trying to create her hair and fur. The front mane already looks pretty good, although messy and clips like hell. The back mane and tail I just slapped on for nice pictures, and it doesn’t have any curls yet (the curls are the hardest thing so far, why oh why did I choose somepony with such massive curly mane for practice?)…
In the long run I’m going to try to create some sort of an animation, maybe in VR if I can. But it will take a long time, since I’ve never done this before, and I still have soooo much to learn and do. And this is a side project anyway, I still need to make those 2D animations 😘.
And yes, I already gave her tits and some crotch features. They are not ready yet, so you’ll see them later 🙈.
See attachments for 2K renders if you like.
