Most accidents that happen on birth control are from misusing birth control. Beth got pregnant because she found herself unable to say no during a window when she wasn't on birth control.

If you read "Force of Nature" the first page addresses Beth being off birth control for the time being. That's why Beth gets pregnant and other women can have a whole lot of sex and not get pregnant.

I know which one you mean. The one-page comic where Des tells her little sister that she shouldn't do the same mistakes like herself. (Being on her third divorce, having no kids till now, not be sure what she wants all the time, and so on,) But i think that's no real reason why Des shouldn't become a mom some day. Maybe Beth's pregnancy and all could make her think about having a kid without a partner. (Kinda like Beth.)

I saw a panel where Beth's older sister (Desdemona?) Said that she envied Beth and her son. Something about it being too late for herself to have kids. I guess Desdemona is either too old to have children, or she thinks that she is too old.
