Last week we checked into AxelBeach Maspalomas, dropped our bags, stripped down, and set the tone for this wild Gran Canaria adventure. But nowโฆ itโs time to get sweaty.
This week, weโre taking you to one of the most legendary gay nude beaches in the world โ Maspalomas Gay Beach, between Kiosk 5 and 6, where the sand dunes go on forever and so do the cruising trails.
Expect sun, sweat, Germans with serious meat, and a lot of โwaitโฆ did he just disappear into that bush?โ moments.
๐ด Getting Here: The Trek of the Thirsty
Nobody tells you this before you goโฆ Maspalomas Nude Beach is a journey. From hotels near Yumbo, itโs a 45โ50-minute walk through the dunes, and doing it in flip-flops? Donโt. Shoes are better.
Our preferred route (highly recommended):
โก๏ธ Take the bus or taxi to Faro de Maspalomas (the lighthouse)
โก๏ธ Grab lunch or a drink along the pretty beachfront boardwalk
โก๏ธ Then walk along the shoreline, past the straight and family areasโฆ
โก๏ธ Look for the rainbow flags โ youโve made it, welcome to gay nudist paradise
You can also arrive the classic way through the dunes behind Riu Palace, but that reminded us of Provincetownโs Boy Beach โ a test of endurance.
๐ So Whatโs the Vibe?
95% gay men, with a surprising sprinkle of lesbians and curious straight couples
Full nudity is very common โ more than half ditch the speedo completely
Cruising does happen, especially behind the loungers in the dunes, but honestly?
In summer it was SO HOT and sandy, we left the action to the Yumbo cruising bars instead
๐น Beach Bar & Essential Tips

Bar opens 10:30 AM โ 6:30 PM โ Beers are โฌ4, and yes, thereโs an entire cocktail menu

They give you plastic toppers to protect drinks from flying sand
โ
Toilets are behind the bar โ do not sit near the back row of loungers. People use the dunes after hours
โ
Rent loungers or bring a towel โ there are rows of loungers with umbrellas for hire (worth it in full sun)
โ
Shoes + Sandals โ we donโt recommend the dune trek in flip-flops only
โ
Bring water & SPF โ There is ZERO shade unless you pay for it or bring your own

Windy? Oh, sheโs WINDY. Expect sand everywhere. The guys in front of us with a paint brush to remove sand? We knew by their deep tans they were regulars.
๐ And About the Menโฆ
Letโs just say: Germans LOVE this beach. If you enjoy tanned, uncut, hung men lazily tanning while sipping a beer with zero shame, welcome home. Expect friendly vibes, lots of IG posing behind the bar backdrop, and the occasional โyou coming into the dunes?โ eye contact situation.

Yes for the atmosphere. Yes for the drinks. Yes for the endless eye candy. But if youโre coming for cruising, weโd say:

100% perfect destination for nudists! And we didnโt walk to the beach in the nude as there are tons of families with kids on the dunes trails! Best to save it for when you arrive to the water or enjoy the many gay resorts where you never have to put on clothes!
Naked Justice
The Canary Islands are just great for naked recreation. Did you do the walk to the beach in the nude, too? I am one of those German guys who hate clothes - especially at the beaches - and enjoy that Spain is so relaxed about nudity.
