According to some supplementary material... Dipper and Mabel's parents sent them to Stan because they are now fighting and wanted their kids away from the house while their were working it out... It's spoiling anything from the show but definitely puts some things in perspective.

The Owl House would fit very well after this since its creator Dana Terrace also worked on this show and carried a lot of Gravity Falls' quality over to TOH and imo even improved

There are 17 shorts in total, all 4-5 minutes each, what I've seen people do is 6 are dipper-themed and people do that in one video. 5 are Mabel themed and do that in one video. and then 6 others that people do the last 6 in one video. So 3 more videos in total but I highly encourage you to do the shorts they are some of my favorite moments they get wild. Or do it all in one video whatever you want!
