Falco is not new to the crew, most people dont recognize the fact that he has always been there because he doesnt have any speaking lines until this episode, but hes been their getaway driver the whole show.

Generally the rule is that animated shows from Japan are considered anime. In Japan though they call all animation anime, its kinda funny reading Japanese forums and hearing them call Adventure Time a Western Anime
