"This is just the beginning!"
Sun Cheng gazed at the sky, his expression calm.
The four Golden Eagle fighter jets returned to Base Two immediately after launching their temperature difference bombs.
On the Arctic Circle side, the Forerunners took over the surveillance.
Having disregarded the situation on that end, whether the Autobots completely wiped out the Decepticons or the Americans stirred up a massive hornet's nest, Sun Cheng paid it no mind. This was just the prologue, and the conflicts to come would only become more commonplace.
Rather than continuing to worry about that, it was better to invest more time in preparing for the days ahead.
Mora personally returned from Bolivia to Base Two, driven by the sudden events unfolding in the Arctic Circle.
By the way, he brought firsthand intelligence obtained from the United States.
"Commander, according to the intelligence gathered by our spies within the United States, the reason the Decepticons suddenly attacked the Americans is because they discovered a peculiar mineral vein in the Newfoundland province of Great Canada!"
"A mineral vein?"
Sun Cheng found it somewhat strange, "What kind of mineral vein on Earth would attract the attention of the Decepticons? Enriched uranium ore?"
This idea came to mind, and he was somewhat skeptical.
If it was about energy, the Moon had Helium-3 more efficient than uranium ore. Even he was tempted by it, as it was an excellent fuel for establishing new power stations.
A few months ago, on the Mars base, they found a small amount of Helium-3, which delighted Sun Cheng for several days. Therefore, he couldn't believe that the Decepticons would target some enriched uranium ore.
However, recalling that shortly after his arrival in the Transformers Universe, he had once, under Starscream's command, obtained some nuclear warheads from a U.S. military base, he began to believe it.
The technology tree of the Cybertron civilization did not include the branch of nuclear weapons manufacturing.
Indeed, in the course of their civilization's development, they had unlocked nuclear energy technology, but they only designed various devices to extract energy using the special properties of uranium.
If the Decepticons had suddenly stolen the Earth civilization's technology related to nuclear weapons and tried to use it to manufacture nuclear weapons to deal with their arch-enemies, Autobots, or even humans, it was not impossible.
The extremely high temperature and radiation during a nuclear explosion would also cause immense damage to Cybertronians.
However, Sun Cheng still had many things he couldn't understand.
"If they are indeed attacking to seize enriched uranium ore to manufacture nuclear weapons, the Decepticons shouldn't be taking action now. Don't they know that once their whereabouts are exposed, the Autobots will definitely come to stop them?"
With this doubt in mind, Sun Cheng asked his chief of intelligence, "Mora, can we confirm the information about the ore that the Decepticons are fighting for with our manpower in the United States?"
Mora thought carefully before nodding.
"Although the intelligence we've gathered so far indicates that the United States has tightly sealed information about the ore, our intelligence network has infiltrated their internal affairs. Commander, if you need it, I can send people to delve deeper and even obtain samples of the ore. However, this will result in some loss of our intelligence personnel!"
Sun Cheng understood what he meant by intelligence personnelβthose HumansSpies who had developed within the United States through various means.
He felt no pity for such spies.
So, he agreed directly, "We've been spending hundreds of millions of dollars each month on them. They've been living a good life. Let those few who always think they're serving Moscow do the work. After obtaining more accurate information and ore samples, send over a small portion. As for the rest, hand it over to our insider in the SVR!"
The SVR was one of the Russian intelligence agencies, formerly known as the notorious KGB First Main Directorate, similar to the CIA, responsible for overseas intelligence collection for Russians.
Mora immediately understood; Sun Cheng intended to shift the blame to Moscow when things went south.
However, the Russians were surely investigating this matter as well. After all, the commotion in the Arctic Circle was too significant to ignore.
The United States mobilized over a thousand aircraft from its mainland, firing hundreds of Tomahawk cruise missiles. Even the Polar Bear would find it hard to remain oblivious.
With the information provided by their insider in the Russian intelligence agency, orchestrating Russians to take the blame seemed appropriate. After all, they were surely keen on uncovering the truth behind the conflict in the Arctic Circle.
Having understood Sun Cheng's plan, Mora promptly set things in motion.
In just over twenty hours, a peculiar metal, no larger than a fingernail, was delivered from a materials research institute in the United States to Base Two by Mora's intelligence team.
As for the number of spies lost during this process, Sun Cheng didn't care at all.
Because several senior engineers and researchers under his command, specializing in the research of new materials, submitted an analysis report that left Sun Cheng with an inexplicably heavy heart after conducting a detailed study on the small piece of peculiar metal.
"Are you certain this is an alloy formed through artificial modification? And it's modified at the atomic level? Its original source might have come from some Carbon-Based Life?"
"Yes, Commander!"
The Decepticon senior engineer, Thoth, respectfully explained.
Thoth was one of the first batch of Decepticon engineers to follow Sun Cheng, named after the god of wisdom in ancient Egyptian mythology.
From the time Sun Cheng designed his first mechanical body, Thoth had been in charge of developing new metals. Now, he had become the overall responsible person under Sun Cheng in the field of materials research.
"While it's challenging to observe differences in the molecular structure, if we continue to magnify it to the atomic and even smaller proton and neutron structure, we have found some anomalies in this alloy."
"It's so intricately and strangely perfect, undoubtedly a type of alloy manufacturing technology beyond imagination. It reminds me of a substance transformation technology unique to the Quintessa civilization, as recorded in the base database!"
The memories of Cybertron's former great scientist, Skyfire, had long been processed by Sun Cheng. All the knowledge related to technology in his memory data had been extracted by Sun Cheng and uploaded to the base database for the Decepticon technical team to study.
This approach had enormous benefits. Over the past year, many Decepticon engineers had benefited from it, sparking much higher creativity than before.
However, Thoth's explanation now also reminded Sun Cheng of the material transformation technology unique to the Quintessa civilization.
Because Skyfire's memory data had only uploaded a tiny fraction into the base database, Sun Cheng knew much more than Thoth.
Thinking back to a fleet of Quintesson ships that had appeared near the Solar System several thousand years ago, Sun Cheng's unease deepened.
"I hope it doesn't turn out as I fear. Otherwise, before dealing with the Skytiger Legion, an even greater crisis might be on the horizon!"
In his mind, involuntary images from the memory data of Skyfire about the records of the ancient Quintessa civilization emerged, sending a shiver down Sun Cheng's spine.
After a long silence, he uttered, "Quintessons, a bunch of lunatics!"
