I get what you're saying. I'm 32 and I've had about as many failed relationships and been to half as many funerals. I have a friend since I was 7 or 8 years old. He met a girl in high school, they married as soon as they graduated and, a dozen years later, are still married and have two pre-teen daughters. Theirs is as close to a 50s sitcom life as I've ever seen in reality. It DOES happen. I digress, I still think that whenever he's ready to retire these characters, she should get a happy ending. Perpetual cynicism is unhealthy, and retiring characters makes room for new ones, anyway.

Jay does tend to play on animal stereotypes most of the time, especially where rabbits are concerned. Most of his rabbit characters seem to be nymphos.

Those are the key words, "happy ending". That's the point when you retire the character and move on. They can suffer up until that moment, before it's all sorted out. In any case, imagine me as the grizzled cop who's just grown weary of lasting misery; I prefer mindless, silly, happy things, to distract from the reality we're forced to inhabit. Keep up the fine work. I'm sure there will be more opportunities to chat about writing in the next decade of me supporting you. :)

Right. But imagine how much more boring a character is once they've found their happy ending. It really is an ending to interesting quirks and story.

True, but as a writer who's seen and endured considerable hardship, I'm exceedingly gentle to my characters, once they've earned their stripes, of course. Fantasy has the benefit of being better than reality... So let me enjoy my fantasy, bruh! XD
