You’re not alone! I also think of TCM as a cult. Its not widely known because most people i know just get a mantra and stick to that, but if you go further in its really harmful. Looking forward to watching this rec! Also i feel like the trinity would be interested in the founder of TCM having a relationship with the Beach Boys. I remember an episode talking about when they tried to have the Maharishi open for them! In that sense its a lot like so many modalities of yoga, with founders being abusive cult leaders and the tradition carrying on.

Martin's energy was such a match for OHL. Great ep.! Love your rec, Vic. I tried my best not to cry while watching it squished between fellow plane flyers. So much humanity captured in that documentary. To piggyback on that, the FX show "Pose" dramatizes so much of that documentary and is so heartwrenching. Stars Billy Porter, who stopped by as a guest for Eric Andre's Live show in New York when Doug toured.

It's really funny because I went to see Neil Hamburger one time by myself and Tim was there and he stared at me the whole show. This was a long, long time ago. Maybe he was drunk, maybe I looked like some kind of weirdo, IDK. But he kept staring at me and pointing at me. No one else seemed to be bothered by me, was the thing. Just Tim. Very weird experience. Again, maybe he thought I looked like some kind of disgruntled school shooter or something but I think I looked very normal. But I swear to you he kept staring at me and telling other people to look at me.
