=To Boldly Go= I really appreciate Tim opening up about his state of art-mind, even though I wish the situation wasn't so bad that he felt like he had to monologue on air. What he describes, I think, can fall under the "weariness" umbrella. Which a lot of us are feeling. I hope, though, that he and others do not feel too stymied during their pauses. I'll never be as prolific as my OHL uncles (big brothers?) but working on my novel , starting in 2019--through the first Trump round and bedside nursing in a pandemic--really showed me how important it can be to bide my time as an artist. To pause, to rest. to soak in others' work. I might be coming from an amateur's place though, never having taken a formal art class after 8th grade. but: "we all can grow, we all can learn" Like for me, this weekend, I'm going to my local library's Storytellers Festival to see what I can learn and apply to my written word. Sure, I'm nervous, since I'm not an actor and one event might make me move around (Page to Stage, but please leave me off-stage?!) But my novel helps me have fun, makes me laugh. And I want to share that with others who like to have fun, who like to laugh. The themes it contains also seem very relevant in these difficult times (balanced power dynamics in a gendered cast, addressing income/social disparities, normalizing queer relationships). Representation can be a form of resistance, to me. As is existing. (I'm not very hip so I wonder what slogans are being used: Exist to resist, existing IS resisting.) But I would also stress: Exist well. For artists and non-artists alike, I think that's a decent modifier that we all can strive for. To move forward, steadily, to interact with the environment and change it where we can in our own ways, large or small. So to all OHL heads and people: Engage! LLAP, Hanh

No one on this show is co-signing anything he does or merely “laughing at his silly little gaffes” and moving on. The trinity and most of us understand the existential threat that he presents, but how can you not expose and laugh at how crazy he is? Again, there are plenty of solid journalists who are breaking this down in a serious way, but that’s never been the format of this podcast. Other than maybe some Abby Martin and Dave Weigl segments, but even those are interwoven with humor. Should political comedy just go away now? Should the Good Liars stop what they’re doing in exposing the lunacy of Trumpism in a humorous way? With P&L I wish you could explain (without the use of condescension and sarcastic emojis) how Trump drops are counter to the resistance of Trump.

Using humor and satire as a form of protest has long been a powerful way of coping with difficult times. Are you opposed to the protests of Putin photoshopped in drag makeup? I get your upset. I’m Hispanic and a woman so I’m very upset at the results. But what can we even do but just escape for now. I like to think the days of public figures being inappropriate are over (I know that's naive). The first time? Leading up until now? Yeah, one could derive humor from the moron. Now? The SECOND time? ... It's like your abuser just got released from jail. At the very least it's way too early to tell. I'm w/ Tim and Vic in the "I'm questioning things and don't know what to do with this going forward." ... Of course you are. It's been like 2 days. There are no birds in the sky. Everything moves at the pace of the grey clouds passing by with the too slow pace of a giant. There is not even the sound of traffic on Peterson Rd. Then, breaking through the timeless silence, you hear the screams. First one, then another behind you. Then from all through town. Unseen mouths erupting from within DR Horton homes.
