DM Scholar Winner - Shenanigans
🕑 Added 2022-09-06 04:04:08 +0000 UTCHey everyone,
Grats to the winner of our DM Scholar competition - FantasyMiniaturesUS.
There were a lot of great entries that were a ball to read, but this one really stood out as a quintessential D&D story you tell your friends when you want to sell them on the premise of D&D/Tabletop RPGs. The full story is below. Definitely gave me a laugh so hope it's the same for the rest of you.
We will be back with another competition next month, so hope to see you all then :)
"I was playing as Ziln visiting the bloody bathhouse in Flussende My partner, playing as Jorrik, and I got separated into different rooms. After taking off my cloths and armor and getting in the bath with nothing but my axe underneath me. Eventually this leads to fighting my way through the first wave of vampires. Eventually my partner finally made it down the hallway to my room. He proceeds to open the door and find me face to face with two more vampires. He pulled up his Crossbolter to take a shot, rolls a 1. His first bolt misses completely knocking over a stand holding burning candles. They fall directly onto some curtains draped along the wall which immediately set ablaze. The battle continues.
When we finally make our way out of the bathhouse I’m left naked with nothing but my axe. My armor incinerated. The warm clothing that I made with the bear that attacked us on our way to Flussende has been turned to ash, which I spent the bulk of my gold on. It’s at this point we realize we didn’t even have to battle the vampires, only a report of WHAT was happening was asked to us by Sergeant Pike.
So the whole situation in and of itself is funny, however this is the cherry on top: This was the first time I had ever met this friend of our DM for this game. I actually got to meet his wife this past weekend and introduced myself as “the guy who met her husband in a bathhouse he nearly burnt down, and then left me stranded and naked on the street in the freezing cold”
