Yellow Dress, Act 2, Scene 8 "The Bull

(In the Darkness, Cody’s voice rings out.)
Cody:
Sean?
Sean, are you there?
It’s me! Cody!
I came to rescue you.
The Little Girl:
Ew, what’s that smell?
(A loud bang, like a breaker being turned on.
The room fills with a harsh fluorescence.
An entity stands crucified to the lockers
By thick leather straps.
This entity could have been Sean once,
But now it’s naked save for leather kilt,
And a bovine leather mask
With impossibly heavy, sharp, metal horns
sticking out of the sides
Making the entity resemble a minotaur.
The entity will hereby be referred to as The Bull.
Cody gasps and the little girl screams.
The Bull stirs and emits a horrible noise.
He pulls and pulls at the strops binding him.
After ripping his left arm free,
He pulls at his right arm,
Ripping the locker door right off the wall.
After shaking his right arm free,
He reaches into the newly opened locker,
And pulls out a spear.)
Cody:
Sean?
Is that you buddy?
It’s me! Cody!
I came to rescue you.
(With a bovine screech,
The Bull lunges at Cody.
Cody manages to jump out of the way.
Just barely.)
The Little Girl:
Cody we’ve got to get out of here!
Cody:
I’m not leaving without him.
The Little Girl:
That isn’t Sean any more.
He’s a monster now.
Just like everyone else in this world.
(With another roar,
The Bull lunges at the little girl,
Catching her in the side with the spear.
The little girl screams and falls to the ground.
Cody backs away.)
The Little Girl:
Cody, please!
Help me!
(Cody cowers in the corner in fear.
The Bull walks up to The Little Girl
Who is lying helpless and bleeding,
And deals a deadly blow.
Cody screams.
It is not a manly scream.
The Bull staggers its way towards him.)
Cody:
Sean, please don’t do this!
You’ve gotta snap out of it.
Please this isn’t you.
(The Bull grabs Cody by the throat
And pins him to the wall.
With its other hand, it raises the spear,
As if it’s about to impale Cody.)
Cody:
Sean,
I’m sorry buddy!
I couldn’t tell you how I felt.
I was afraid of how I’d be treated
I was afraid of what my father would do.
I’m not afraid anymore.
I’m not. I swear.
I love you, Sean.
I love you so much.
(The Bull hesitates, then places Cody down.
It back away from Cody.
Suddenly it winces in pain
And pulls at its horn
As if it’s trying to tear
The mask off,
But the mask doesn’t budge.
It lets out yet another bovine screech
Before impaling itself on its own spear.
Cody screams as lights begin to flicker out.
The Man’s laughter is the last thing heard.)
