Technically these images are unrelated, as I like to upload my Layne pieces in groups, but they turned out to unintentionally (yet somehow still intentionally) share thematic values.
When I draw Layne, this facet of Ceran, I often find myself pairing him with entities and personifications of cosmic concepts, power, eternity, etc. Beings often chaotic and incomprehensible, sheer eldritch essences that one can't help but be entranced by to the point losing touch with reality. And yet? The concept of detaching and surrendering himself to something so much grander than he is, is both alleviating and freeing, despite the detriment such codependent self-sacrifice results in. It is hard not to romanticize the void.
......buuuut, we can also simply enjoy the near literal interpretation of loving and to be loved by all there ever is and all there ever was, and then having interdimensional sexscapades as a result. We do just love monsters! I had started the sketch with the Roy Orbison lyrics back in 2022, and it only made its way back to the surface recently. I'm glad I polished it up, I still think it's charming and fits his aesthetic quite well.

THANK YOU!!! Truly that means a lot hearing this observation, it feels nice knowing that dreamy mood was properly captured! Oh absolutely it looks like nightmare and likely is every time, hahaha! I think he treats the aesthetic inconvenience as the "price of art." Though I'm sure at some point he'll just get specially made zippers. Very very veeeery careful zippers.

Ah, your words restore me so many moral points. π Genuinely I appreciate how much you noticed/captured the atmosphere here, as I really wanted to get little tastes of all those essences! So funny you mention that series as it was actually one of my favorites growing up! I'm sure it's weird style ending ed influencing me in its own distinct way, lol

These are fantastic, and that first shot is absolutely gorgeous. Evocative, graceful, dynamic. The colors work terrifically, and it's erotic without being lewd. I find his flirtation with the Void to be endearing, honestly. It just seems to make sense. It reminds me of how in the anime series Excel Saga, the Great Will of the Macrocosm is an actual character who ends up having a romance with another character. (Look it up if you have time...it's hilarious.)

I don't think I'll ever get over how pretty that first pic is. I love the lighting and the way everything inside is flowy and shifting while the outside stays still. But I also wonder how long it takes Layne to undress. The jacket doesn't look bad, but those pants look like a hassle and a half.

Just Imagining myself in the bed behind him in the First Pic, just kicking back and taking in this Beautiful Evening Sky and a Luscious 'Full Moon' all while Pitching a Tent in the Sheets πππππ
