Another Mod Warning (READ) + New Mod List Policy
🕑 Added 2024-02-07 04:11:30 +0000 UTCRemember the person that pretended to be PimpMySims last week and uploaded the shady Cult Mod update? They’re back again, this time they uploaded the Cult Mod to CurseForge and renamed it to Social Events – Unlimited Time under the name of MySims4.
I initially removed it from the Mod List because Meg over on the Sims After Dark discord tagged me to report them as stealing from MSQSims.
Thankfully, I opened the mod to check it out to find these (same as the Cult Mod):

And in the .py (aka .ts4script):

So, same applies here as last time…..
- Do NOT download!
- If you downloaded it, delete immediately!
- If you loaded the game with it installed, delete AND run a virus scan.
- If you used the Curseforge app to install it, make sure to delete it from your My Mods tab in the app so it doesn’t re-download the mod.
CurseForge has been properly informed and the mod was reported, so hopefully it’ll be removed ASAP.
TL:DR – Delete and run a virus scan if you installed and loaded your game with the Social Events – Unlimited Time mod by MySims4 on CurseForge. They’re pretending to be PimpMySims and malicious code was found in the mod.
Update Feb. 7th - Curseforge has finally made an announcement about the situation on their discord:

New Policy
Although I do have a disclaimer in place, the fact that I had this mod in the mod list does not sit well with me. So I was very close to never adding new/unknown creators ever again. Instead, I’ve decided on the following new policy regarding new/unknown creators effective immediately (I'll add these to my info pages in the next few days)…
- There will be at LEAST a one month delay before I even consider adding mods from new/unknown creators.
- I will not be adding them myself. So, if you want them added to the mod list, you’ll need to submit them using the Mod Submission form.
- Once the creator has been around for at least one month, I’ll prescreen their mods if/when they’re submitted to the Mod List (since these mod hosting sites aren’t doing it properly).
Unfortunately, there’s always that one asshole that has to ruin it for everyone else.
I’ll also be going through mods added to the Mod List in the past month or so from new creators. If I find any other bad ones, I’ll make another announcement.
In the meantime, please be cautious who you download from.

Thanks for all that you do. I deleted the mod after I tried to test it and got an LE. Later, I saw It was malicious, so I did a virus scan and it found nothing. I just used the tool you have listed in the follow up and it was able to find and delete whatever was in that download. Thanks so much! I would have never know anything was wrong

I downloaded that social event mod from MSQSims on Sims Resource -- that one is legit, right? I just want to make sure I am understanding this post correctly. It was someone posing as MSQSims?

Thank you. Will do.

Run the tool that they just released, I just linked it in the post. :)

They're supposed to be ;) You're welcome!

Yikes. Does Curseforge not prescreen mods? I thought that was the reason for the delay in mods being published there. Thank you for keeping us safe!

Thank you so much for the work you do!

That social mod caused a 100% sure exception, so I had removed it. Thanks so much for keeping us informed.
