I thought Thief would make for a longer series than this until I was playing through it again and realized that the game falls apart after Return to the Cathedral. Then I remembered why I like Thief II so much better.
This game goes to shit fast and dies an embarrassing death after it's climactic mission - which I do get to after the blooper map, a thing that was too good not to include. Sometime later we might see PETTY THIEF: THE METAL AGE but for now, this journey has ended with the grace of an eagle being blown up with a cruise missile.

Thanks Civvie, great work as always. I've been busy for a while... like a month.... so I need to go check out your last 2 or 3 videos. Personally, I like Escape!. "Bedfellows" is a bad filler mission... and I appreciate that LGS was going for something different on "Maw of Chaos" - that said, I'm glad it can be finished in 15 minutes. Have you ever played any Thief Fan Missions? Tons of good stuff. Ominous Bequest, Broken Triad, Keeper of the Prophecies, Death's Cold Embrace. Can't forget about Thief 2X.

Great video, never played Thief when it came out so it 's nice to see what the fuss was all about. When I was a kid I had to choose between this and Deus Ex, ever thought about doing a video on that series?

There's probably a way to get NewDark, the port I'm using, to work on Linux. The night vision effect is a surprisingly simple process - use the equalizer effect on the game capture, then tint it green, and layer a vignette over it. The moving parts is just cropping from center to top/bottom. The vignetting makes it a bit easier on the viewer's eyes I think.

Yay my name still has a pretty glow around it in the credits. I'm kinda tempted to pick up Thief now - I'm sure it can be kicked and punched into running on Linux these days, and it seems like my kinda game; when I played Goldeneye and PD I always liked stealthing things. Also, CivStar, did you explain how you did the night vision effect in a previous video/comment section? I'm guessing greyscale it, up the gamma/brightness/contrast/whatever, then apply mild green filter? Genuinely just curious. *shuffles off to go do some work at 8pm UK time....*

I was gonna use Doom music again, thought maybe something medieval would be more appropriate, then I dropped in that track and it worked so well I couldn't not use it.
