Roles:
NORMAN MAILER: The famous writer, seen in his 50s, at the height of his influence. Man of physical and intellectual heft. Mailer starts a correspondence with prisoner Jack Henry Abbot, gets him a book deal, and helps get him paroled. But when Jack comes to New York, Mailer is overwhelmed by the actual sadness and squalor of Jack's life, but can't quite follow through on his promises to help, and he also gets angry and embarrassed when Jack "humiliates him" by not playing the part of the genius writer in the way Norman would like. Offer BEN STILLER
JACK ABBOTT: Although he's spent most of his life in violent prisons and came from a tragically abusive home, he's brilliant and self-educated. Mailer takes him under his wing and helps him get parole and a book deal. When released, he's unprepared for the spotlight and cracks under
all of the pressure. Attached Colin Farrell
