[ BENJAMIN DEBACKER ]
17 years old, they are a nonbinary teen, a bright, creative, and introverted loner. Pretending to be the perfect "son" to their bigoted, ultra-religious Southern parents in extremely rural North Carolina has become more than they can bear. After they kick Ben out of the house, they take solace in the home of their estranged sister, Ella, and her husband Thomas, in nearby Raleigh. Ben keeps careful distance from the students at their new school but finds a new friend in Nathan, their proudly bisexual classmate, who introduces them to his offbeat circle of friends -- the nonjudgmental chosen family that Ben has always yearned for. When Nathan and Ben fall in love, it brings Ben even more out of their shell, helping to arm them against the repeated attempts of their parents to intrude into their new life…Please submit actors who are legal 18 or over the age of 18 who can portray the character described above.
