Teddy listened to the sound of Karla gulping down water from a glass. She was standing very close, outside where he was hiding in a kitchen cupboard. It was apparent she had become a bit dehydrated in the night. Teddy listened as Morganna’s friend moved around the kitchen, doing something. Maybe she was looking for food but had paused near his hiding place to drink water?
Teddy peeked through the crack of the cupboard door and saw Karla’s bare calf. It was as thick as his body and formed a feminine pillar of leg that led up to her full hips. Karla was wearing open-toed block heels with thin straps. The two-inch heels were a made of a dark purple leather. Above, Karla’s knee-length floral-patterned skirt fell lightly against the cupboard. “Morning sunshine,” a woman said.
“Ugh, remind me to go easier on the wine next time,” Karla replied. “You want some coffee?”
Several female voices responded in strong approval. Teddy tried to guess how many were in the kitchen. Four or five? It was hard to tell by listening alone. Some of the voices were familiar but others weren’t. The only voice Teddy could identify for certain was Karla’s. He couldn’t help but think of that summer night in the pool where she’d stolen a significant amount of his size. Andrea had once suggested it was possible, that it could be reversed. Teddy wondered if Morganna would agree to explore that idea. At least he’s rich and pays, but that doesn’t give him the right to impose his will on my time or be so rude. I wish I could make him small like Teddy, or even smaller. Men like him need to be taught a lesson.”
“That would be so funny,” a younger woman replied. “Being small does seem to have made Morganna’s step-son way more obedient…and cute too.”
“Mmmhmm…” Karla intoned. “But if I shrank that corporate-bro dickhead, it would make him re-think all the terrible things he’s said to me. He’s not cute at all. To be honest, I’d be tempted to just stomp on him. So maybe it’s good I haven’t shrunk him.”
Karla brought her foot down with a solid thud upon the kitchen floor, causing the pots to rattle around Teddy in his hiding place. He almost cried out in fear, but managed to keep his mouth shut. He felt the power in Karla’s leg and it frightened him to think about the truth - that if she wanted, she probably could crush a tiny man under her foot. There were other shrunken men out there. At least one had already become a victim of Andrea’s lust for revenge and pleasure.
Teddy pushed aside the mental image of a tiny man’s bones crunching under Karla’s shoe. After all, she was just daydreaming of revenge, not actually plotting murder. Who didn’t do that every now and then?
Teddy’s attempt to reassure himself was corrupted by the fact that reality no longer conformed to any sense of normality. Somehow, a part of him could easily imagine such an act of violence occurring, with only a slight shift in Karla’s personality. It would be so easy for her to crush a tiny man in a fit of passion. Even now at Teddy’s size, he was keenly aware of how easily he could be hurt and handled like an object. Only several months ago, he would have been busy trying to re-establish control over the property and discourage the various uninvited guests that Morganna had brought into the house. Once he was certain that Karla and her companions had left the kitchen, Teddy dared to peek out of his hiding spot. He eventually found himself near the the front entrance of the house, in the old Victorian style foyer. Bits of red carpet and dark wood gave the space a serious and slightly bohemian atmosphere. On a shoe rack near the door, numerous boots and heels owned by Morganna and her daughters were loosely arranged. The collection of 15-20 pairs of footwear was only a small sampling of the total number of shoes, sandals, boots, and slippers that the three women owned. Teddy knew this because he had already been tasked with polishing or cleaning closets on several occasions.
Teddy stared, half in awe and half in distress, at the sheer size of a pair of black pumps near the door. One shoe was on its side, where it had been casually removed by the owner. The shoe standing upright was shockingly large in comparison to Teddy’s shrunken body. Its worn light-brown insole was almost level with Teddy’s knee. You thought you were going to coast off into a life of male privilege - get a degree by half-assing your studies, land some girlfriend and follow in your father’s grifting path to an upper middle-class life leeching off the hard work off other people.”
Teddy felt stunned. Nimue’s brutal honesty was a bit much for him to handle. It wasn’t so much her tone as much as the actual truths behind some of what she said. He had kind of expected those things to fall into place. He had looked forward to carving out his own fiefdom, his own place in the world, yet hadn’t expected to have to work too hard to get there…just, hard enough.
“What’s wrong with wanting a degree and a girlfriend, or a middle-class life?” Teddy objected. “It doesn’t mean I would leech of anyone.”
“You just don’t get it,” Nimue retorted. “Your dad’s money is all tainted and derived from pyramid schemes, scams, and grifts. Worse, you wanted to use the same money to probably take up some lame career in a field no one needs. Well, now you’re barely up to a woman’s knees and have more important concerns, like how you can give your Mistress a good orgasm. You’ve learned what hard work is from scrubbing floors and doing laundry. I am a fan of Joyce and she has said that my writing encouraged her to start back in the day, so we likely have many of the same themes since we have many of the same fetishes/preferences. But I did not draw on her work for this chapter. This is just my own writing.
