I personally believe if the universe was still in the process of being destroyed, they could reverse it. But with no universe, there is no longer any time in that empty void. So there was no longer anything left to reverse, thus meaning alien x had to recreate everything near exactly

We have seen that souls exist in the show so I always assumed that when ben recreated the universe the atoms of the universe are new, however they are the same people as they have the same soul

if i remember correctly the writers said that "Alien X couldnt reverse time in a place time didnt exist anymore" couldnt find the thing itself but thats what I remember hearing
