New robot for the dice reveals

I was out last week on vacation but I’m back now. Here is a nearly completed project! It’s a new stop motion robot for the dice reveals. It’s a three axis gimbal running GRBL and I’m generating g-code with python. It should make the reveals feel like we are flying around the dice.

Progress update

LuAG is half done, the first half went so well and between fearing that I will mess it up and getting the shop stuff ready to go it has sat a bit. The set in Ohio flint is coming along. It’s probably about half way done. It’s hard to say because each dice takes such a different amount of time. It’s coming out great though. The textures in this rock are amazing.

Stickers should be going out soon. I want you to know that I had to get more stickers printed because how many of you signed up. Here is a preview of one of the designs.

LuAG update

It’s coming along well. I took the stone to 240 grit last night. I am doing a double bevel design that is easier to cut the bevels, then the faces. So what you see here is just the bevels. Faces will be cut in at 600.

Star Ruby under the UV light

My editor Andrew came to town and I cut an amazing piece for him and he took some amazing footage. This is a synthetic* Ruby that has a some bubbles in it. The bubbles give a great texture to the die. We used the fluorescence of the ruby to play with the lighting for a cool effect. this video will be up in a month or so.
